Following Jesus is a joy but we don’t follow Him because He promises comfort, wealth, or ease.

We follow Him because through Jesus, sinners are brought back to the God who loves them more than they could imagine. Jesus is not just a better life. He is our way back to God.

Our appetites have a way of making sacred things seem small. Esau’s sin wasn’t hunger. It was treating something holy as common. That's still our danger today: treating sacred things as common when our desires rule us.
