"The Art of Dying Well" - The absence of death in our everyday experience has caused us to misunderstand God’s purposes for us in this life. As Paul faces death, he gives us insight not only into how to die well, but how to live well, too. What is the greatest threat to you remaining faithful to the end? What resources has God given you to help you persevere? (2 Timothy 4:6-22) Kevin Nelson https://open.spotify.com/episode/6xmtvsKNbwWgE3IRajiz4z?si=a0348f421ae34d06

"Words Breathed Out By God" - God’s word is not just the communication of accurate information about him and the way of salvation. It has the power to transform you. It is all we need for the life that God is calling us to. If we are not filling our minds with God’s word, then we will fill them with other things that will also transform us. How can scripture be both the word of man and the word of God? What is the biggest factor keeping you from God’s word? "The Difficulties of the End Times" - There is a type of nominal religion that goes down easy. It teaches a generic, undemanding religion and expects favor from God. It has the appearance of godliness but denies its power. The gospel, however, radically restructures your life. It brings repentance and death to sin, as well as producing the fruit of the Spirit. People who want a simple and safe religion will stand opposed to the gospel. Is your Christianity too comfortable? What prevents gospel-change from happening in your life? "Filled and Led by the Spirit of God " - Is it weird to talk about and emphasize the Spirit of God dwelling in believers? What does that even mean? When God's presence fills the tabernacle in Exodus 40, we don't simply have an interesting detail from Israel's history. Rather, we witness the kernel of everything God has promised and will do in the restoration of his people from their sin. He will dwell with them - not only alongside them or watching them from afar - he will be among them, in them, and leading them. The tabernacle was heaven on earth. What does it mean for the Church to be filled with the Spirit? How can you experience that heavenly presence today? "Rightly Handling the Word of Truth" - There is a wrong way to handle the word of truth. Christians are called to love truth that matters and hate false doctrine, and to do both compassionately. While Christians need to avoid getting themselves entangled in empty controversies, they should try to gently persuade those who are ensnared in lies. False teaching can harm the community, but so can ungodly attacks in the name of truth. How does seeing the devil’s role in ensnaring people affect how you treat those in error? What effect does your character have on the beliefs of those you are trying to influence? "Gospel Courage" - The call to Christ requires courage. This is true for all of his followers. There is a lot that passes for courage today that could better be defined as foolishness or wickedness. Christian courage comes from a Divine call. God calls us to do right even though it makes us afraid. Only the gospel will give us the resources and the purpose to live faithfully in the fear of opposition and distraction. Do you think of your faith as something that requires courage? How does the gospel reframe the things you fear? (2 Timothy 2:1-13) Kevin Nelson https://open.spotify.com/episode/0C65GMiYVYAGRuuhwHQtSc?si=ee78e35186d947ba

"Follow the Pattern" - God’s people have always been prone to wander from God’s word. We forget, become distracted, or are tempted to twist his words. We may have faith but if we do not guard the content of that faith, then we will not have saving faith. In our passage, Paul gives Timothy guidance for developing a healthy faith. How are you ensuring that your beliefs are sound? What everyday things threaten your theology? "The Price of Contentment" - We love money because we believe it will provide the things we need to be satisfied in this life. Our passage teaches that chasing contentment through material gain will ironically bring us great spiritual loss. The pursuit exposes our deep sense of need, but it is a need this world cannot fill. Only through the gospel will we find the wealth God has for us, which will bring contentment and produce generosity. Where do you most effortlessly and easily and joyfully spend your money? What does that reveal about your heart? (1 Timothy 6:6-21) Kevin Nelson https://open.spotify.com/episode/0v4ypgFb6smiWb7risAc7i?si=b41a391abc394a00
