Acts 16:9–15 is a powerful reminder that when God calls, He also makes a way. Paul’s vision of a man from Macedonia is more than a moment—it’s an open door, a divine invitation into new purpose. As Paul steps forward in faith, God orchestrates every detail, leading him to Lydia, whose heart the Lord gently opens to receive the message. The passage shows that God doesn’t just guide us to the right places; He prepares the hearts of those we encounter. It’s an inspiring picture of how obedience meets opportunity—when we are willing to move, God is already at work, unlocking doors we could never open ourselves and awakening hearts ready for transformation.

You are invited to Join Us On Our Journey into Acts 16 this Sunday May 10 at 9:30 am at Friendly United Methodist Church and at 11 AM at Sistersville First United Methodist Church.

The story of the Road to Emmaus (Gospel of Luke 24:13–35) shows how followers of Jesus Christ struggled with confusion, disappointment, and doubt after his crucifixion—feelings that still resonate today. Like the two disciples, people often face moments when hope seems lost or when they don’t understand what’s happening in their lives. The story reminds us that even in those uncertain times, we are not alone; God may be present and working in ways we don’t immediately recognize. It encourages patience and openness, trusting that meaning and purpose can emerge even from hardship.

Today, the moment when the disciples recognize Jesus in the breaking of bread speaks to the importance of awareness and connection in everyday life. It suggests that clarity and renewed faith can come through simple acts—conversation, reflection, or shared experiences. The story challenges us to look more closely at our own lives, to recognize moments of grace, and to share hope with others. Just as the disciples returned with renewed purpose, we too are called to carry encouragement and faith into the world around us.

Also at Sistersville, Dr. Gary Nichols will be bringing us inspiration and information about the work of Compassion International

You are welcome to join us for Palm Sunday March 29 at Friendly United Methodist Church or Sistersville First United Methodist Church.

Palm Sunday marks Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, initiating Holy Week. It commemorates the start of Christ's final week of earthly ministry and his journey toward the cross, characterized by crowds waving palm branches and shouting "Hosanna". It highlights his humility as King, riding a donkey, and signals the transition from celebration to the Passion.
