Last evening we had a Garden Planting Party! Many thanks to Jim and Kim McIntyre and Joe, Anna and Pastor Colleen Griffith who planted onion, carrot and basil seeds in the boxes and the “Lower 40” now has onions, Peas, tomatoes(Roma, early girl, beefsteak), green beans, Lima beans, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, cauliflower(or maybe it is cabbage?!), and corn. We are so thankful for the TCHS Greenhouse program for wonderful plants!
We have a few seeds packets yet to plant.
Pizza dinner was enjoyed after a wonderfully productive evening of gardening. Thank you all for your hard work!
Our Community Garden produce is for anyone who needs it. Right now there are a few green onions ready to harvest if you need some.
We plant and God gives the growth to help feed our community. Thanks be to God!

Last Thursday Joe Griffith and Pastor Colleen Griffith went to Tyler Consolidated High School’s Greenhouse and purchased plants for our Community Garden. Thursday evening Joe, Pastor Colleen and Anna Griffith hoed, weeded, planted and watered. The raised beds now have cherry tomatoes, sweet orange peppers, Green peppers, Jalapeño peppers. Joe and Anna planted potatoes a few weeks ago and they are growing well. More to be planted.
Thank you, Griffith family!

***SPC COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE - We have our first harvest of the year this morning. I went out and pulled up some green onions to share. That’s about all there will be for the next few weeks.
Anna, Pastor Colleen, and I planted some of the raised boxes earlier this past week. Cherry tomatoes, several kinds of peppers are now planted to go with the potatoes and mint and some other herb—maybe fennel.
Peas are growing beside the onions in the Lower Forty, which has been rototilled and is ready for lots of other plants this week.
This Tuesday, June 2, we will have a Planting Party at 6:00pm to finish planting. There are a few things yet to go into the boxes. There are LOTS of things to be planted in the Lower Forty. Please join us. We’ll have pizza afterwards.
The dry days of the past week have been good garden days. Hopefully Tuesday will be good weather to finish all the planting.
