In Matthew 16:13–20, Jesus asks His disciples a powerful question: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter responds with a declaration of faith, recognizing Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God.

This passage reminds us that our faith is not based on what others say about Jesus, but on knowing Him for ourselves.

Come worship with us as we lift up the name of Jesus and celebrate who He is.

Matthew 15:10–28 reminds us that true faith is not simply about what we say, what we do outwardly, or how well we appear before others—it begins in the heart. Jesus challenges us to look beyond outward religion and examine what is truly happening within us. In this passage, we see that genuine faith comes from a heart that trusts God, seeks Him sincerely, and refuses to let obstacles stand in the way. The Canaanite woman gives us a powerful picture of this kind of faith: humble, persistent, and completely dependent on Jesus.

Join us on Sunday at 9:30 AM- Friendly United Methodist Church or 11 AM- Sistersville First United Methodist Church as we ask God to help us develop a faith that is real, wholehearted, and firmly rooted in Him.

We will be in Matthew 14:22–33.

These verses remind us that following Jesus does not exempt us from life’s storms—it often leads us directly into them.

After sending His disciples across the Sea of Galilee, Jesus withdraws to pray while they struggle against fierce winds and crashing waves. In their darkest hour, Jesus comes to them walking on the water, revealing His power over the very storm that threatened them. Peter steps out in faith at Jesus’ invitation, but when he shifts his focus from Christ to the wind, fear overtakes him and he begins to sink. Yet even in his failure, Jesus immediately reaches out and saves him. As the storm ceases and peace returns, the disciples are moved to worship, declaring, “Truly You are the Son of God” (NKJV).

This passage teaches that the key to overcoming life’s storms is not the absence of trouble but the presence of Christ. It challenges every believer to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, trust Him in every circumstance, and worship Him as the sovereign Lord who is always present, always powerful, and always faithful.
