A Prayer for the Caregiver Who Can’t Understand

God, sometimes the not understanding is the hardest part.

My child wants to be heard.
I want to understand.

I want to know their joys.

What delighted them today?
Who made them laugh?
What are they proud of?

And I want to know their pain.

What hurts their heart?
Why are they struggling?
Does something hurt in their body?

God, sometimes I wish I could simply know.

I don’t understand why this communication barrier exists.

But You know.

You know what they cannot put into words.
You know every pain they cannot explain.
You know every joy they cannot tell me about.

So when I am frustrated by what I cannot understand, give me patience.

When I am tired of trying, remind me that trying is an act of love.

Help me listen differently.
Help me keep making a way.
Help me recognize what I may be missing.

And when I am tired of not knowing,

remind me that my child is held by the One who knows.

You know.

You have always known.

And for today,
let that be enough.
Amen

Registration is now open for the best night of the year! We are hosting Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine where churches from all over the globe, on the same night, February 12th, will be celebrating the lives of people with disabilities.

Honored Guests, make sure you sign up to join us for a night of dancing and celebrating YOU! The night is complete with flowers, limo rides, red carpet entrance, dinner and of course dancing! If you are 14 or older, this night is for you! And there’s no cost to attend!

Parents, each Honored Guest will be paired with a trained buddy for the night so that you can enjoy time to yourselves or hang out with other parents in the parent/respite room.

NIGHT TO SHINE REGISTRATION OPENS TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY!

What began with 44 churches from 26 states and 3 countries, by God’s blessing, has become a world wide movement that is changing Valentine’s Day from simply a celebration of love to a celebration of God’s love by honoring people with special needs and the value of life. It is a night not only for guests to shine but for churches to shine, for volunteers to shine, and most importantly, for Christ to shine.

At NTS honored guests (ages 14 and up) will experience a red carpet entrance complete with paparazzi, a buddy for each honored guest, limo rides, flowers, pictures, dinner, a respite room for parents, and of course, dancing!

2027’s Night to Shine will be happening on Friday, February 12th, from 6-9pm, here at Northpointe Church! Spots for honored guests are limited and will go quickly, so please don’t wait to sign up!

On October 1st head to northpointe.org/event/night-to-shine and register. Volunteers are also needed and can sign up using the same link. Don’t miss the best night of the year!
