Thank you Pride-SWFL for a great day. And thanks to all the new friends for stopping by to visit. And to all our members who braved the heat to come out to show love, the volunteers that staffed our booth or the entire event. Love Wins!

🐾 All Creatures Great & Small: Meet Storm 🐾

Storm's story is one of resilience, determination, and love.

Born with significant challenges following birth complications, Storm's future was uncertain. Thanks to the dedication of his family and the support of a doggie wheelchair, he has learned to hold up his head, stand on his own, run short distances, and enjoy life alongside the other puppies.

Storm has even attended puppy training classes, earned an honorary certificate, and spends quiet Sunday mornings with Walter in the sound booth during services.

His journey reminds us that compassion, patience, and love can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of those who depend on us.

💚 Thank you to Lesley & Walter Peterson and Mark Brandon for sharing Storm's story with our congregation.

🐾 This feature celebrates the beloved animal companions of our UUCFM community. Congregation members interested in participating can send a photo and short blurb to [email protected].

🐾 Like and share to help us celebrate Storm and the extraordinary difference compassion can make.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day from UUCFM 💛

Today we celebrate mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, mentors, and all those who help nurture love and kindness in our lives.

This morning we’re sharing beautiful peonies with our community as a small reminder of care, connection, and appreciation 🌷

Whether today brings celebration, remembrance, reflection, or quiet moments, may you feel surrounded by compassion and community.

🌼 Last Sunday, our UUCFM community celebrated Flower Communion a beloved Unitarian Universalist tradition symbolizing the beauty, uniqueness, and interconnectedness of every person in our congregation.

Each member is invited to bring a flower, whether store-bought, picked from their garden, or gathered from somewhere meaningful. Some of our members even travel up north this time of year and bring flowers back with them this year we had flowers from New York! 💛

During the service, members shared reflections inspired by different flowers, each bringing their own meaning and perspective:

🌹 The Rose — Marge Gonzalez
🌻 The Sunflower — Helen Leddy
🌼 The Dandelion — Lucas Budzilo
🪷 The Buddhist Flower — Andy Solis
🌼 The Buttercup — Lee Haywood
🌻 The Sunflower — Pati Maier

Just as every flower is unique, every person brings something special to our community. Together, we create something more beautiful than any one flower alone 🌷

Thank you to everyone who shared their reflections and helped make the service so meaningful.

This Sunday, March 8th, we gather for “Additional Lighting Required” with Rev. Arthur Jones III, Worship Associate Melyssa Caballero, and Music Director Jon Dalton.

We’re also honored to support two incredible community partners:

• The Neighbors Network of Lee County — our Monetary Sharing Partner, helping older adults age safely at home through neighbor‑to‑neighbor support.

• South Fort Myers Food Pantry Coalition — our Non‑Monetary Sharing Partner. UUCFM continues to provide funds, food, and volunteers. Please bring non‑perishable items to campus, or volunteer on Mondays at Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church.

Join us as we deepen our connections, strengthen our community, and shine a little more light together.

Healing the world

Maine consistently ranks as one of the least religious states in the entire country — 49th, according to the latest report from Pew Research Center. But a couple of denominations are bucking that trend. This is part one of a two part series.
