Do you sometimes think you're too sensitive for this world? Would you give anything too feel more confident and more secure in yourself?

So often in our interactions with others we find ourselves experiencing feelings of hurt, rejection, and not being heard that can lead to developing anger and rage towards others. Within Buddha's exceedingly practical teachings on patience there is a special category known as 'the patience of definitely thinking about Dharma' in which we apply the teachings on emptiness to our training.

Join us for this series in which we'll show how by applying Buddha's extraordinary insight into 'no self' we free ourselves from taking things so personally. This in turn opens us up to a much more flexible and light-hearted way of responding to difficulties. Not only does this greatly improve the qualities of our life, it allows us to transform problems and conflicts into opportunities for great spiritual growth.

Everyone welcome!

Buddha said "the end of meeting is parting ... " We are really going to miss our precious Mike Kolesar who turns 80 years old on June 8, and will be moving to Boise, Idaho to be closer to family. He's been consistent attending meditation classes, retreats, pujas, festivals, empowerments, special events, helping us distribute publicity, and helping us fix things around the center these past several years. We're forever friends now and will be keeping Mike and his daughters in our prayers for a smooth transition and move. Happy 80th Birthday, Mike! So glad our paths crossed.

Thank you to everyone who turned out on this beautiful spring morning for our first annual Mantra Mountain Walk for World Peace at Lory State Park. We welcomed 21 people which started with a short teaching by our Resident Teacher Kerrin, inspired by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s two sadhanas Prayers for World Peace and Avalokiteshvara Sadhana. Each participant received a gift of Tharpa Publications’ Avalokiteshvara mantra wallet card and learned the meaning of the mantra. Everyone set their intention before setting out from the Timber Picnic area for a four-mile hike, while reciting the Buddha of Compassion’s mantra and imagining a world free of suffering. The environment could not have been any more lovely, winding through the green, rolling foothills of the Rocky Mountains overlooking Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, Colorado. Benny, the dog, and eight-year old Aria made the day even more special, as there is nothing like the love of pets and children to bring a sense of wonder and awe to any day! After the hike, the assembly enjoyed a picnic lunch together and many new friendships were formed. We look forward to doing this again in the future. Being out in nature in the beautiful outdoors of Northern Colorado is ideal for bringing your elements into balance (water, earth, fire, wind, space).

Hope to see you all tomorrow for our Sunday 11:30am meditation class followed by 2pm Prayers for World Peace!

05/28/2026

Join us this Saturday for our first annual Mantra Mountain Walk for World Peace followed by a picnic at Lory State Park on Saturday, May 30, from 9am-12pm. Everyone is welcome!

at Lory State Park Timber Picnic Area
708 Lodgepole Drive
Bellvue, CO 80512

Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy the natural outdoor beauty of Northern Colorado.

We will gather at Timber Picnic Area at 9am before setting out together on our walk, followed by a picnic brunch!

Once everyone arrives around 9am, we'll begin with a short teaching on the power of reciting mantras. Mantra means 'mind protection,' and by mentally reciting the sacred sounds of the mantra of the Buddha of Compassion Avalokiteshvara, we'll collectively be making powerful prayers for world peace while we walk.

We recommend proper footwear, sunscreen or a hat, and water to drink. Bring your cameras for pictures and brunch food for a community picnic afterwards.

Those with a Keep Colorado Wild Pass don't need to buy a parking permit. If you don't have this pass, you will need to buy a $10/day parking pass, which you can purchase at the Lory State Park Visitor's Center upon arrival. The Timber Picnic Area is the first right turn past the Visitor's Center.

Registration is not required, but donations are appreciated.
