In light of current events, we invite our First Baptist Church family to join the pastors in prayer for wisdom, truth, compassion, and justice as we seek the Lord together. Let us pray:
Our Father in Heaven,
We come to you with heavy hearts. The deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good have stirred up grief, anger, confusion, and fear for many, and we do not want to ignore or pretend it does not matter. The loss of life always matters to you, and it matters to us.
We confess that moments like this leave us with more questions than answers. We ask for wisdom and clarity as the truth continues to unfold and come to light. We pray for honesty, for accountability where it is needed, and for restraint where emotions run hot.
Please guard our hearts from becoming hardened, cynical, or numb. Keep us from reacting in ways that reflect fear rather than faith. Teach us to be people who grieve honestly, speak truthfully, and love courageously.
We pray for all who are hurting, for families and communities shaken by this, and for those carrying heavy burdens in the days ahead. Help us to reflect the character of Christ in how we speak, how we listen, and how we treat one another.
We place this situation in your hands, trusting that you are a God of justice, mercy, and truth. Teach us to walk faithfully in these turbulent times.
