That's our Annie Ford receiving the Lighthouse scholarship 🙌 Way to go Annie!
Michelle For Flossmoor Village of Flossmoor, Illinois
Happy PRIDE month! To start the celebration, at last night’s village board meeting we recognized two outstanding 2026 Homewood-Flossmoor High School graduates who were recipients of the local Lighthouse LGBTQ scholarships for their excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, leadership and service. Their looooooong list of accomplishments include state-level recognition for music performance (Annie) and a position on US Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s Youth Cabinet (Amariya). Congratulations Annie Ford and Amariya Raickett! 👏
I was also proud to stand with Village of Flossmoor, Illinois residents Elizabeth McKnight and Troy Holmes who have worked hard to build community connections across the village, supported inclusive initiatives, and volunteered their time to make our village shine. 💎
Village Clerk Cecil Porter commented that after researching the origins of Chicagoland PRIDE festivals, Flossmoor’s PRIDE fest was likely the first in the region, behind Chicago. Village Events Manager Stephanie Wright and Lighthouse LGBTQ supporters hosted the first Flossmoor PRIDE event in 2017 and we have proudly partnered with local organizations and businesses to celebrate PRIDE ever since. 🙌
See you at the 2026 HF PRIDE Fest on June 12 in Flossmoor Park! 🌈
