FCC's Senior Summer Camp kicked off yesterday with a packed house! Our travels began in North America, where our travelers were treated to American pie (take your pick of 9 baked by Raylene Oord!), got moving with some light exercise with Danie Van Vliet, and enjoyed beautiful program on Native American culture given by David Ranlett. Afterwards, Danie led us in a fun "fishing for friends" game to get to know one another, and Pastor Jim taught us how to make dreamcatchers to take home. Next week, we travel to the British Isles, and it's not too late to join us! FCC Represented at the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District PRIDE fest on Friday! Travis, Jim, and Brooke manned the tent, with Megan Maginity painting faces - which proved so popular lines were at times 45 minutes deep! We included a welcoming "living room" invite conversations and ask our Pastors ANYTHING about an open and affirming church, and how scripture has been misused to harm LGBTQ+ people. So proud of our community for celebrating inclusion and love. What a beautiful night. 🌈

This Sunday we welcome Rev. Jyrekis B. Collins, a native of Athens, Georgia, a minister, educator, consultant, and community leader. A graduate of Morehouse College with a B.A. in Religion and Yale Divinity School with a Master of Divinity degree, Rev. Collins has dedicated his life to faith, justice, leadership development, and community engagement.
Rev. Collins currently serves as a Program Manager for Toward Pride and as the Minister of Mercy and Justice at First Free Church Chicago. He is also a professor for the Yale Youth Ministry Institute and serves as Chaplain of the Chicagoland Morehouse Alumni Association. Rev. Collins brings extensive experience working with churches, nonprofit organizations, and academic institutions to advance faith-based leadership, equity, and community transformation.

For those 65-and-older, join us to "Tour the World" for our second annual Senior Summer Camp. Each week, we will be exploring different places and cultures around the world through activities, food, conversations, and exercises. Our Senior Summer Camp will meet on Tuesdays from 10 am-12 pm (doors open at 9:30am for coffee and conversation), beginning on June 16. $10 suggested donation for the entire program.
