Today is a special day.

This afternoon, I will be honored with the Trailblazer Award at the 13th Black Tie Ball of T-Lab Accelerated Learning Centers at Oakland University.

I am humbled by the recognition and deeply grateful to Dr. Clarence Nixon and the entire T-Lab family.

The theme for this year’s celebration is:

“Elevating Excellence: Moving Forward with Purpose.”
Philippians 3:14

That language means something to me.

There are moments in life when you pause long enough to recognize that whatever trail you have been privileged to walk, somebody helped clear the ground before you ever arrived.

So today, I am grateful.

Grateful for family.
Grateful for mentors.
Grateful for those who prayed.
Grateful for those who opened doors.
Grateful for those who expected more from me.

And especially today, I am grateful for organizations like T-Lab that are investing in the young people coming behind us.
