Glenwood Cemetery

Glenwood Cemetery Founded in 1857, Glenwood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the MI Register of Historic Places.

Many of the citizens who put Flint on the map are here in a park-like environment and arboretum that is always open to the public.

Glenwood Historic Cemetery and Certified Arboretum is looking for community partners willing to donate in-kind landscaping and preservation supplies to support our 2026 summer preservation program.

Each summer, University of Michigan-Flint students complete hands-on preservation work at Glenwood, learning how to document, clean, and preserve historic monuments while helping restore one of Flint’s most important historic landscapes.

We are currently seeking donations of:

• Fill dirt
• Cinder blocks
• Gravel and stone
• Hand tools
• Survey and measuring equipment
• Safety supplies and work gloves
• Other landscaping or preservation materials

These donations directly support student fieldwork and help us continue caring for Glenwood’s historic landscape, public green space, and thousands of historic monuments.

If your business, organization, or family would like to help, please send us a message or email us directly ([email protected]). We would also greatly appreciate shares so we can connect with local suppliers and community partners across Genesee County.

Together, we can preserve Flint’s history while creating meaningful educational opportunities for students.
