UNFORGIVENESS DOESN’T JUST REMEMBER THE PAST—IT KEEPS RECRUITING THE PAST INTO YOUR FUTURE.

Some relationships didn’t die because reconciliation was impossible. They died because someone needed to be right more than they wanted to be restored.

Here’s the danger: after a while, unforgiveness stops feeling like bo***ge and starts feeling like discernment. We call bitterness “boundaries,” avoidance “peace,” and refusing to reconcile “protecting my energy.”

But Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9).

You can be justified in being hurt and still be wrong in how you handle the hurt.

Forgiveness doesn’t always mean the relationship returns to what it was. Reconciliation requires repentance, truth, wisdom, and participation from both sides.

But never become so comfortable with separation that you stop asking God:

“Is this distance Your wisdom…or my wound?”

Because sometimes the greatest evidence that God healed you isn’t that you can talk about what they did without crying—

it’s that you no longer need them to suffer for what they did to you.

Heal. Forgive. Pursue peace. Don’t let yesterday choose who you become tomorrow.
