⛰️ What’s keeping you from going all in?

Tomorrow we begin a brand-new series at GNCC called The Second Mountain, and whether you’ve been part of church your entire life, haven’t been in years, or aren’t even sure what you believe, you’re invited.

The Second Mountain is about the things that can keep us from becoming who God created us to be. Fear. Comfort. Pride. Wounds. Distractions. Our past. Other people. Our plans. Our need for control.

At some point, we all have to ask:

What’s holding me back?
Are we willing to surrender?
Are we willing to change?
Are we willing to take the risk?
Are we willing to let go?
Are we willing to go ALL IN? 🔥

Tomorrow we’ll begin in Luke 9 as Jesus challenges us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him.

Before you come, I want to challenge you to pray something simple: “Jesus, what do You want to show me? What do You want to change in me? What am I still holding onto? Whatever You ask, help me say YES.” 🙏 Then come expecting Him to answer.

Tomorrow is going to be a special morning. We’ll share Communion together as we remember the One who held nothing back from us. ❤️ We’ll also celebrate BAPTISMS during our 11:30 service! 💧

And if you’re reading this wondering whether you’d be welcome—YES. If you haven’t been to church lately, come.
If you’ve had a bad experience with church, come. If you have questions, come. If your life isn’t where you want it to be, come. If you don’t know what you believe yet, come. You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need to get your life cleaned up first. You don’t need to know the songs or know what to expect.
Just come. ❤️

⛰️ What if God isn't waiting on you?

What if you're waiting on you? We say we want everything God has for us—but are we actually willing to do everything He asks?

Willing to change.
Willing to let go.
Willing to take the risk.
Willing to be wrong.
Willing to fail.
Willing to surrender.
Willing to go ALL IN. 🔥

Because there comes a point when following Jesus requires more than believing. It requires movement. This weekend, we begin a brand-new series called The Second Mountain, and I believe it connects perfectly with where God has been leading us. We just finished Blessed Are, where Jesus challenged us to become humble, flexible, pure in heart, peacemakers, and faithful. But every one of those requires something from us:
Willingness. 🙏

It's possible to know what God is asking and still refuse to move. It's possible to believe God has more for us while continuing to hold tightly to the very things keeping us from it. The Second Mountain is about confronting those things. Fear. Comfort. Distractions. Wounds. Other people. Our past. Our plans. Our need for control. Sometimes the only thing standing between where we are and where God is calling us is our willingness to take the next step. 👣

So here's a question to begin praying before Sunday: "Jesus, what am I still unwilling to give You?" And then be willing to listen to the answer.

🍂 Fall is also a great time for a reset. School is back, schedules are filling up, and weekly routines are beginning to take shape again. Maybe this is the season to make gathering together in worship part of your rhythm again.

And if you already have that rhythm, invite someone into it! ❤️ Think about your neighbor, coworker, friend, teammate, or the family you see every week at the ball field. Send the text. Make the call. Invite them to sit with you.

We've talked a lot lately about taking our next step with Jesus, and for some of you, baptism may be yours.

I often get asked, "I've already been baptized. Can I be baptized again?" My response is simple: if you believe God is prompting you to do it, be obedient. If you've never been baptized and God is prompting you—say yes. If you've been baptized before but believe He's calling you to take that step again—say yes.
And if baptism isn't what He's asking of you, that's okay. Ask Him what your next step IS.

Maybe it's serving. Forgiving someone. Making amends. Joining a group. Sharing your faith. Becoming more generous. Spending time with Jesus. Surrendering something you've been holding onto. The step may be different for each of us, but the posture should be the same: "Jesus, whatever You ask, my answer is YES." 🙌

Blessed Are showed us the people Jesus is calling us to become.
The Second Mountain asks us if we're willing to become them.
God is calling us higher.

⛰️ Let's climb.

How willing are you? 🙏

This weekend, we closed out our Blessed Are series by talking about faithfulness. But as I've continued thinking about the message, there's one word I can't get away from: Willingness.

Faithfulness means staying planted. 🌳 It means remaining steadfast in who God has called us to be, regardless of the season or circumstances. But being deeply rooted doesn't mean becoming rigid.

When we ook back over this entire series, willingness has been underneath everything we've talked about. Are we willing to be humble enough to admit we need God? Are we willing to be flexible enough to let Him change our perspective or preferences? Are we willing to pursue Him with an undivided heart? Are we willing to forgive, make amends, give someone the benefit of the doubt, or even admit that we might be wrong?
And are we willing to remain faithful when following Jesus gets difficult?

But here's where it gets even more challenging... Are we willing to take a risk for God? Are we willing to try something knowing we might fail? Are we willing to follow when we don't know exactly where He's leading? Are we willing to surrender our comfort, plans, resources, reputation, or security if obedience requires it?

Are we willing to go ALL IN? 🔥 Throughout Scripture, the people God used weren't always the most confident, courageous, qualified, or prepared. They were willing. They trusted that if God called them, He would be faithful. Their faith wasn't demonstrated by knowing how everything would turn out. It was demonstrated by their willingness to obey the One who did. 🙌

So here are four things I'm challenging myself—and all of us—to practice this week:

1️⃣ Pause before you say no. Ask yourself, "Why am I resisting this?" Is it conviction, or is it simply uncomfortable?
2️⃣ Ask, "What if I'm wrong?" Listen before defending. Give someone the benefit of the doubt. Leave room for God to change your perspective.
3️⃣ Say yes to one uncomfortable thing. Make the call. Have the conversation. Forgive. Apologize. Serve. Give. Invite. Take the step. 👣
4️⃣ Start each day with open hands. 🙌 Pray, "Jesus, everything I have and everything I am belongs to You. Whatever You ask of me today, my answer is yes."

God can only take us as far as we're willing to go with Him.
We don't want Blessed Are to simply be another series we finished. We want these truths to shape the people we're becoming. Humble enough to need Him. Flexible enough to follow Him. Pure enough to pursue Him. Loving enough to make peace. Faithful enough to stay planted. Deeply rooted, but completely available. 🌳❤️

Faithfulness says, "I'm staying planted." Willingness says, "Wherever You lead, I'll go." May we be people whose answer to Jesus is already YES. 🙏🔥

🙌 What if you came to church this weekend expecting something to happen?

Not because the music will be perfect. 🎶 Not because the message will have all the answers. Not because everything in your life is going well. But because you came open to the possibility that God might want to meet you right where you are.

I've been thinking a lot about our posture when we gather for worship. I truly believe the way we prepare to meet with God affects the way we connect with Him.

So what if we prepared differently this weekend?
🙏 What if before we ever walked through the doors, we prayed, "God, what do You want me to hear?"
❤️ What if we came without an agenda?
🙌 What if we were willing to surrender something, change something, do something, or become whatever He is calling us to become?
What if we simply said, "God, I'm available."

And maybe you're reading this and church isn't normally part of your weekend. Maybe you haven't been in a long time. Maybe you've never really believed any of this. Maybe you've got questions, doubts, or even some frustrations with church.

YOU'RE INVITED TOO! 🫶

You don't have to get your life together first. You don't have to know the songs, understand the Bible, dress a certain way, or pretend to believe something you don't. Just come. Come curious. Come with your questions. Come exactly where you are.
And maybe even pray, "God, if You're real, show me what You want me to see." As school starts back and routines begin to take shape again, this might be a great time to make room for something different.

📚 And for those of us who already call GNCC home, let's not come alone! Think about the friend, neighbor, coworker, teammate, or family you've been meaning to invite.

☎️ Make the call.
🤝 Extend the invitation.
❤️ Give someone a reason to say yes.

🌳 What does it really mean to be faithful?

This weekend, we bring our Blessed Are series to a close, and I love how everything we've been learning leads us here. We've talked about humility, flexibility, purity, and peacemaking. Each one challenges us to surrender more of ourselves and become more dependent upon Jesus. But now comes an important question: Can we keep doing it?

It's one thing to say yes to Jesus in a moment. It's another thing to keep saying yes when circumstances change, prayers seem unanswered, temptation comes, or following Him becomes difficult. That's faithfulness.

This weekend, we'll spend time in Psalm 1, which begins with words that should sound familiar: "Blessed is..."
Psalm 1 describes the faithful person like a tree planted by streams of water. Seasons change. Storms come. Sometimes there's visible fruit, and sometimes it seems like very little is happening. But the tree stays planted. 🌳

Maybe that's one of the best pictures of faithfulness. Stay close to Jesus. Stay in His Word. Keep trusting. Keep serving. Keep showing up. Keep saying yes. Don't allow a difficult season to convince you to abandon the source that has sustained you through every season before it.

Throughout this series, we've been challenged to become humble enough to need Him, flexible enough to follow Him, pure enough to pursue Him with an undivided heart, loving enough to make peace, and now faithful enough to stay planted.

🙏 Before this weekend, spend some time reading Psalm 1 and ask yourself:

What's feeding my life?
What's influencing my direction?
Where are my roots growing?

Maybe the goal isn't simply to have a great moment with Jesus. Maybe it's to become so deeply rooted in Him that whatever comes our way, we remain faithful.

Let's stay planted. Let's stay faithful. And let's trust God with the fruit. 🙌

What you feed, grows.

Yesterday, Danny did a great job continuing our Blessed Are series as we looked at what it means to be pure in heart and to become peacemakers.

One of the things that stood out was the reminder that Jesus' definition of blessed—happy or fortunate—isn't dependent upon our circumstances.

That's completely different from how most of us tend to live. When things are good, we're good. When life gets difficult, we can easily allow the difficulty to consume us.
But what if our circumstances don't have to determine the condition of our hearts?

Danny shared the story of a young man he met during his trips into the Amazon jungle. The pictures I'm sharing with this post give us a glimpse of what happened over time.
Look at the first picture.
Then look at the last. ❤️
The young man's circumstances hadn't suddenly become easier. His surroundings hadn't changed. The difficulties of his life hadn't disappeared. But over the course of Danny's visits, something clearly had changed.

Jesus had changed him. The young man began pursuing Jesus, spending time in God's Word, and becoming hungry for the things of God. And eventually, what God was doing inside of him became visible outside of him. You can see it on his face. Peace. Joy. Life.

I've been saying this a lot lately:
What you feed, grows. Feed the struggle, and the struggle grows. Feed the fear, and fear grows. Feed the anger, and anger grows. But fix your eyes on Jesus, spend time in His Word, remember His faithfulness, and trust Him even when circumstances don't change—and peace begins to grow. 🙏

That's our challenge this week:
📖 Feed your faith.
❤️ Guard your heart.
🙏 Fix your eyes on Jesus.
🙌 And when He asks something of you, say YES.

Pastor Rachel shared something recently that Danny reminded us of yesterday: “You will never regret saying yes to Jesus." You don't need everything around you to change before Jesus can change what's happening within you.

Sometimes the greatest evidence of God's work isn't that our circumstances look different. It's that we do.

❤️ Who Comes Next?

This weekend, we continue our Blessed Are series as we look at what Jesus means when He says, “Blessed are the pure in heart” and “Blessed are the peacemakers.”

The Beatitudes aren't simply a list of behaviors. They're a picture of the kind of people Jesus is shaping us to become. Purity changes what we pursue, and peacemaking changes how we respond to the people around us.

This week I spent some time in John 17:20–26, and verse 20 really grabbed my attention. Jesus wasn't only praying for the disciples standing in front of Him. He was praying for the people who would eventually believe because of their faithfulness.
Jesus was already thinking about who comes next.

That should challenge us. There are people in our lives who don't know Jesus yet. There are families looking for community.
There are people who are hurting, searching, skeptical, or
simply waiting for someone to invite them. Our faithfulness today can help create an opportunity for someone else to flourish tomorrow. 🙏

So here's my challenge: invite someone this weekend.
Don't overthink it. Send the text. Ask the coworker. Invite the neighbor. Reach out to the family at the ball field. You never know what God might do through one simple invitation.

🙌 God sure is good!

We're still celebrating what we experienced last weekend as our kids and families shared their camp stories—and how about that student-led worship team?! ❤️🎶 What an encouragement to see what God is doing in the next generation!

This weekend, we jump back into our Blessed Are series as we talk about what it means to be a peacemaker. So far, we've discovered how these Beatitudes begin building upon one another:

🙏 Humility recognizes that we need God and we need one another.
🙌 Flexibility allows us to surrender our preferences and expectations to follow where God leads.
❤️ Peacemaking teaches us how to love when things get difficult.

Jesus didn't say, "Blessed are the peacekeepers." He said, "Blessed are the peacemakers." Sometimes making peace means stepping into an uncomfortable situation rather than avoiding it. It may mean forgiving, apologizing, listening instead of defending, or taking the first step when we don't think we should have to.

Here's a question to carry with you this week: "Lord, where are You asking me to make peace?"

What started as prayers, conversations, sketches, and vision is becoming increasingly tangible. There are still important steps ahead before construction begins, but this is a significant milestone worth celebrating!

Church, these are exciting times at GNCC. God is changing lives.
He's raising up the next generation. New families are joining us.
And we're preparing more space for what He wants to do next.
But let's not simply watch what God is doing. Let's participate in it. Invite someone. Make room. Welcome someone you don't recognize. Encourage a new family. Tell someone what Jesus has done in your life.

We're preparing more space, but let's never forget why we're making room.
