Pastor Jeff Buck offered a special prayer this morning to bless our teachers, students, and support staff as they begin a new school year. He invited all former educators in the congregation to come forward and lay hands in blessing. Please pray for all our schools, students, and staff that they have a safe and productive year!

This week we are introducing two more charter members who helped establish Grace Presbyterian in 1926. Harry H. (H. H.) Balsiger (1888–1981) became a member of Grace Presbyterian Church through profession of faith. He was married to Edna May Balsiger (1900–1993), née Bradley, who transferred her membership to Grace Presbyterian from First Presbyterian Church. Together they had two children, Betty and James.
Mr. Balsiger was an active and respected member of the Crystal City community. He served as mayor of Crystal City from 1945 to 1949 and was involved in civic and community affairs. He was also active in the Masonic organization, serving as Past Master and attaining the 33rd degree.
The Balsigers were longtime residents of Crystal City and were among the early members of Grace Presbyterian Church, helping to establish the congregation and its presence in the community.

Do you know what “Khesed” means?

Come experience grace this Sunday, August 23, at 10:00 A.M. as Pastor Jeff Buck brings the message, “Khesed.” Our Scripture readings will be Exodus 1:8–2:10 and Romans 12:1–8.

Come and discover this beautiful and powerful biblical concept of steadfast love, kindness, and faithfulness.

If you can’t join us in person, our service is streamed live on YouTube and shared on our page shortly after worship.

Supporting Our Crystal City School Staff ♥️

A group of Grace Presbyterian Church members were happy to welcome the Crystal City 47 Public Schools with breakfast on Tuesday, August 18 at the high school.

For a number of years, GPC has sponsored this Back-to-School Breakfast as a small way to show our appreciation for the teachers, staff, and administrators who work so hard for the students of Crystal City.

Grace also sponsors the annual Easter Egg Hunt for the kindergartners in our church park every spring, and we also host baccalaureate for the Crystal City High School seniors.

We’re grateful for all they do and are proud to support our school community 📚🍎

As we continue celebrating our centennial, each week we are introducing one of the 41 charter members who founded Grace Presbyterian on May 30, 1926. This week, we meet Maybelle Aubuchon Niemann (1912–2002).
Maybelle was the daughter of Zeno and Nellie Aubuchon, whom we introduced a few weeks ago. She transferred her membership from First Presbyterian when she was just 14 years old. In 1934, she married Harry Niemann, and they were blessed with three sons: Harry, Jr., Lloyd, and James. She also played a meaningful role in raising her grandson, James, Jr.
Maybelle and Harry later moved to Hematite, where she taught kindergarten Sunday school for many years and served as the Vacation Bible School (VBS) director for the Hematite Christian Church.
Following her husband’s passing, Maybelle moved back to Crystal City and returned to her roots at Grace Presbyterian. She remained active in our church family, participating in Sunday school, welcoming everyone as a door greeter, and sharing devotionals at circle meetings.

🎉 100 Years of Faith, Community, and Blessings! Our hearts are still full as we look back on our incredible Centennial Celebration this past May 31. God has been so faithful to our church family over the last century, and it was a joy to celebrate that legacy together. Pastor Jeff Buck, Michael Osher, Jr., and Susan Faith have put together a special two-page commemorative flyer summarizing that beautiful day, complete with photos from the celebration!
