As students head back to school, many families face extra expenses for school supplies, clothing, and other essentials. To help ease that burden, the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana, are partnering with the Tri-State Food Bank to host a Mobile Food Pantry to distribute boxes of shelf-stable groceries to local families at risk of hunger.

The drive-through pick-up will be at the Monastery Garage, located behind the monastery near the Monastery Event Hall. No ID is required for those wanting to receive groceries, but zip code and how many are in your household will need to be provided.

Friday, August 28 | 9:00 ­­- 11:00 a.m. EDT, or while supplies last.

A special thank you to the philanthropic group Women of the Rule for helping fund this event!

¡Muchísimas felicidades a nuestra querida hermana Juanita!

Today is Sister Joan Scheller’s birthday! From Evansville and St. Joe, Indiana, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from St. Benedict’s College, Master’s degrees in Religious Studies from St. Louis University and in Pastoral Ministry from Mexican American Catholic College in San Antonio, Texas, and Accreditation in Immigration Law from the U.S. Department of Justice. Sister Joan has served as an Elementary Education teacher, a Special Education teacher, a missionary, administrative assistant at Kordes, pastoral associate, immigration law representative and Latino Outreach coordinator. Today she works in immigration services and Latino outreach here in Ferdinand. Her downtime is often spent flower gardening, sewing and crocheting. She was attracted to our community by the example of the Sisters who taught her in elementary and high school as well as the proximity to her family. Feliz cumple, Sister Joan!

This is our very own Sister Michelle. She always tells her DACA clients that she is a tech geek because she loves helping them do their applications online. Well, here is the proof! She is not only a geek for her clients, she is also for religious community’s throughout the United States.

Four Benedictine sisters travel the country to run the technology for congregational gatherings, saving fellow sisters from technological headaches.

Rosario Laudato Si'
Se celebrará un Rosario Laudato Si' al aire libre, en la Gruta de Lourdes del Monasterio de la Inmaculada Concepción. La participación es gratuita y, al finalizar, se ofrecerán refrigerios.

En caso de lluvia, el Rosario se llevará a cabo en el Centro de Exalumnas.
