One of the greatest gifts God gives His people is each other.

Every week, we gather to worship Christ, encourage one another, and grow together in His Word.

We're grateful for every conversation, every friendship, every prayer, and every person God has brought to NorthWoods.

Church is more than a place we attend.

It's a family we belong to. ❤️

In this episode of the NorthWoods Church Matters Podcast, Bobby Pell, Bob Weeks, Ryan Moore, Matthew Higgins, and Rachel Bland break down the upcoming Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting and explain why being part of the SBC matters for NorthWoods. They discuss the Cooperative Program, missions, church autonomy, the unique culture of the SBC, and what it’s like to attend the convention in person.

The conversation also explores one of the convention’s most discussed issues: a proposed constitutional amendment regarding women serving in pastoral roles. The team shares a complementarian perspective, discusses areas of agreement and concern, and reflects on how churches can remain faithful to Scripture while encouraging every believer to use their God-given gifts for the Great Commission.

Psalm 1 begins with a word we often misunderstand:

Blessed.

The world tells us blessing is luck, success, popularity, or comfort.

Psalm 1 tells a different story.

True blessing is found in a life rooted in God and grounded in His Word. 🌿

We are incredibly grateful for what God is doing through NorthWoods Deaf Church.

What began with conversations, relationships, and a burden to reach the Deaf community has grown into a thriving ministry where people are hearing the Gospel, being discipled, and publicly declaring their faith through baptism. 🤟

Thank you to everyone who has prayed, served, given, and supported this work. We are excited to see how the Lord continues to use NorthWoods Deaf Church to make disciples and share the hope of Christ.

We're honored that Baptist Press recently shared the story of what God is doing in Evansville. Take a few moments to read the article below and celebrate God's faithfulness with us.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (BP) – When Corey Harrison struggled with deep anger in college, wondering why God created him Deaf, a friend invited him to a men’s retreat. There, Harrison recalled the love he experienced when his childhood church hired Deaf pastor Paul Cannon.

Psalm 1 contrasts the life of the godly person with the life of the ungodly person, teaching that true blessing comes from walking closely with God. The godly person rejects ungodly influences, sinful lifestyles, and mocking attitudes toward God, while delighting in and meditating on God’s Word daily. The sermon emphasizes that the people and voices we allow into our lives shape who we become, and that spiritual growth happens when we allow Scripture to guide our thinking and actions. It also reminds listeners that only Jesus perfectly fulfilled Psalm 1, and that His righteousness is what makes blessing possible for believers.

The sermon describes the godly person as a tree planted by streams of water—stable, fruitful, and able to endure difficult seasons because their roots are deep in God’s truth. In contrast, the ungodly are compared to chaff blown away by the wind, lacking stability and lasting purpose. The message closes with a warning about coming judgment and the reminder that the ultimate difference between the godly and ungodly is whether a person belongs to God and walks in His ways.
