Bishop Siegel invites all to join Pope Leo in praying to rosary today at noon for world peace! Share pictures in the comments of you and your family praying!

To accompany his constant calls for peace in the world, Pope Leo XIV will lead the prayer of the Holy Rosary on May 30 at 7:00 PM Rome time from the Vatican Gardens.

He will lead the faithful in Shrines around the world in praying the Joyful Mysteries, with each decade being dedicated specifically for those affected by war and violence and entrusting them to the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace.

The first mystery prays for the victims of war, especially the most vulnerable, while the second is for those who bring words of hope and the comfort of faith to populations affected by war. The third recalls the medical and paramedical personnel and volunteers who bring humanitarian aid every day.

The fourth mystery prays for those who suffer the violence of war, for prisoners and for all who endure humiliations that violate human dignity. The fifth and final Joyful Mystery is dedicated to praying for an end to war and the establishment of lasting peace in the world.

Savio participants and their families filled Sacred Heart Church in Evansville May 6, the feast day of St. Dominic Savio, for the Savio Awards Night. The night began with Mass at 5:30 p.m. CDT, which was celebrated by Father Luke Hassler. Immediately following Mass, Eliott Church provided background about Savio and announced the awards for the evening.

Good Shepherd Catholic School recently made national news after a heartfelt TikTok honoring its teachers went viral and was featured on Good Morning America. The video beautifully captured the gratitude and love felt for educators who give so much of themselves every day.

We are deeply grateful for all the teachers across our diocese. Their faith, dedication and compassion continue to make a lasting impact on students and families far beyond the classroom.

The annual interfaith observance of National Day of Prayer was May 7 at Four Freedoms Monument in Evansville. The theme of this year’s National Day of Prayer observance was Psalm 46:2: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

On May 7, a blessing and dedication for a new Habitat for Humanity home was held in the CHAIN neighborhood for homeowner Mi’Kyla. In 2025, the Diocese of Evansville announced a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Evansville to build a home for a family in need. “As last year’s Jubilee year reminded us, hope is something we build together,” Diocese of Evansville Chancellor and COO Dean Happe said. “And today we celebrate that hope standing right behind us. We pray that this home will be filled with peace and blessings for many years to come.”
