Come join us on Sunday mornings at 10:45am for a cup of coffee and time spent in The Word. Our current sermon series is “ The 5 Practices of a Fruitful Congregation”. Our first practice is Radical Hospitality. What are we doing to invite others to see what we are all about?
Bring your friends to church! What if church isn’t just about your personal experience but a witness to *guests* of God’s reality?
In 1 Cor 14, the Apostle Paul is setting the Corinthian church straight on a few things—and one has to do with the people we invite.
Paul says to serve God in an orderly way, where everyone’s gifts have a chance to shine, and with a prophetic voice, so that your guests (which presumes we are each inviting new people, “...will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, ‘God is really among you!’” (1 Cor 14:25).
Eeeek!!!! Am I personally bringing new people to church???? When was the last time I brought a guest to church? Aside from the important point that church should be a space where everyone gets to use their gifts and the prioritizing of the prophetic voice of God, are we inviting new people?
Let’s get started church! Let’s do what the Apostle Paul says and make certain that church is a space where, “Everything must be done so that the church [the people of God and future people of God] may be built up,” (1 Cor 14:26).
***A Prayer: Lord, thank You that someone took me to church. Put someone on my heart that I can share Your love and hope with and give me the opportunity and courage to invite them to go with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
