This email is to share with you all that the Westside Christian Church building has been sold. We are evaluating whether/how this page will continue moving forward.

Just A Closer Walk
For this “TunesDay” lets take a closer look at Just A Closer Walk With Thee. First a little history:
The modern version of the song was arranged by Kenneth Morris, who added lyrics to a chorus he heard a train porter singing. Although the modern version of the song is not in the style of a “Spiritual”, there are reports of similar songs coming from pre-Civil War days which may have been more traditional Spirituals. Morris’ version has been used widely in New Orleans jazz funerals, and has been recorded by more than 70 artists ranging from Elvis to Bob Dylan to Lawrence Welk to Charlie Daniels.
