Do not let people live rent free in your head.
At the 1:38 Women’s Conference, Jeff M. Joaquin shared a powerful reminder in collaboration with Fr. Larry Richards: when we sincerely apologize, that apology is our act of repentance. We can take responsibility for our words and actions: but we cannot control how another person responds.
In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we approach Christ through His Church, confess our sins, and receive the mercy of God. With one another, we offer a sincere apology and entrust the outcome to the Lord.
Forgiveness is a gift the other person gives. And forgiveness does not mean returning to an unsafe relationship, dismissing harm, or abandoning wise and healthy boundaries. We can release resentment to God while still pursuing safety, truth, accountability, and healing.
What is God asking you to place in His hands today?
