How does the Church officially recognize a saint? 😇

Join us at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, as Msgr. Robert Sarno presents “A Theology of Canonization” during the Seton Shrine’s Saints on Their Way festival. Internationally recognized for his decades of service to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Msgr. Sarno will offer a fascinating look at canonization and what the Church’s recognition of holiness means for all of us.

The festival is free and open to all, with Mass, live music, food trucks, Confession, Adoration, tours, and opportunities to discover American men, women, and children on the path to sainthood.

What would make a priest run toward gunfire?

Father Vincent Capodanno was a Navy chaplain in Vietnam. He lived, ate and slept alongside the young Marines he served, and he was the first chaplain to go out with them on patrol and on the battlefield.

On this day, September 4, 1967, under heavy fire, he moved across the battlefield treating the wounded and giving Last Rites. He was killed running into the open to reach a wounded corpsman. He received the Medal of Honor and is remembered for his example of fortitude and his final act of self denial and humility.
