We celebrate with the 2026 graduates! What an exciting moment in time; looking back at your accomplishments and looking forward to what God has planned for your future! We recognize that times like this can also seem a bit overwhelming, moving from the former to the future; from accomplishments to unfamiliar new beginnings. With that in mind, remember to put your trust in God and look to His Word for wisdom...

In her book, "Redemptive Compassion," Lois Tupyi says, "I believe one of the greatest challenges the Church faces when addressing people in need is a lack of education on the topic." Lois has served people in need with Love INC since 1999. Her book, based on firsthand experience, teaches how we are Biblically called to help people in need. Redemptive Compassion is a powerful concept! You may be surprised to learn what she has to say.

The "helping" systems currently in place in our world, although provided with good intentions, often end up hurting the very people they intended to help. Lois states, "When we value others because God does, we become willing to invest in them relationally. Relying upon wisdom and discernment, we should then seek to help them develop to their full potential believing that mutual participation and contribution are critical in achieving a transformed life."

MOTHER'S DAY
"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:" (Proverbs 31:28 ESV)

God's love is characterized by sacrifice, tenderness and patience. Mothers are given the opportunity to be imitators of that kind of love. A key part of God's design for families is that His love be brought to us through our mothers. What a good gift He gave to us; Mothers.

In the United States, our Mother's Day tradition began in the early 1900's. To honor her own mother, Anna Jarvis came up with a plan for the celebration. She had specific hopes for the way it would be observed, including handwritten letters of gratitude being given to mothers.

In Exodus 20:12 and Ephesians 6:2, we are commanded to "Honor your father and mother." And this command comes with a promise, “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land" (Ephesians 6:3 ESV). Today, let's take some time to praise our God for his good gifts and to honor our Mothers.

The Bible calls us to model excellence - never in arrogance, but in humility. "Now as you excel in everything – in faith, speech, knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love for us – excel also in this act of grace" (2 Corinthians 8:7). The Bible reveals the best approach for doing this.

Chuck Swindoll has been quoted as saying, "The secret of living a life of excellence is merely a matter of thinking thoughts of excellence." Here, he is echoing concepts from God's Word. Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." And, Proverbs 23:7 says in part that, "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." So then, modeling excellence begins in our thoughts and is then carried out through our actions.

Beginning with our hearts; our thoughts, as we "take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5), let's strive to model excellence.
