Many of you probably remember our volunteer Vianna. She is currently doing mission work I just received an updated email and thought that I would share the good work so she is doing in God’s name. Her letter is below:
From Vianna
Since my last update which I believe was in April many things have have happened and I wont be able to cover them all but I will try to hit the high points of our summer and fall activity's.
we had around 3 months of school vacation which we filled up with lots of days at the river and lake trying to stay cool. We also surprised the girls with what we like to call poverty week, i'm not sure that they thought it was very a pleasant surprise;). during that week we did a few work projects for others and ate very basic beans and rice. We slept on the roof of our house with some sleeping in hammocks and others sleeping on the floor. At the end we celebrated by going to the river and eating amazing food! I think the girls were all very relieved to be done with that week but know it made an impact on them and me as well to remember how blessed we really are.
Also through out the summer I was doing horse training lessons with the girls. It was a lot of fun to see them pick up on it and enjoy it. It was a good way to stretch my Spanish and it created many opportunity to teach practical life lessons of treating others with respect.
In August I had the blessing of having my youth group come for a week to teach bible class's and do work projects at the orphanage. I was so good to have them see were I am working and get a little view into my world. I am so thankful for each one of them and the support they've give to me while I've been here.
Summer vacation came to a close in August and I think everyone was happy to get back to the school schedule. Oh I forgot to mention that August 2nd we welcomed Maidelin into our group. Tiffany and I had been praying about getting a new girl and God answered that prayer in his perfect timing. Its been a awesome journey to watch as she started to open her heart to us and having the privilege of teaching her about Jesus. Tiffany had the huge privilege to lead her to Christ Last week! If you remember to please pray for her in her new walk with Christ that heart would continue to be open to his love and healing.
We now have 6 girls ages 10-15 in our group, the emotion runs high most of the time and the drama seems to come in never ending supply yet through all the craziness I am so thankful that God sent me here and gave me the amazing chance to love these beautiful girls of His.
I am daily reminded of the grace Jesus has given me to do this work. He has been so faithful to me through the thick and thin, joys and sorrows of daily life here. In the days of pure emotional exhaustion and feeling completely at a loss as to what to do next I know that God is right by my side working through my weakest moments to bring about His great and perfect work. I can't thank Him enough for all he has done for me!
please continue to pray that the girls will put their security in Jesus and fined their hope in Him.
Pray for My co Tiffany as she goes on vacation next week that she would be refreshed and also for me as I continue to lead out as shes gone.
Please pray for the children's paper work to be finish so they can be available for adoption
Please pray that God would continue to provide caregivers and also we are going to be starting a new role here for a supervisor so you can pray that God would provide someone to fill that very needed role.
Thank you all so much for your support and prayers it means so much to me to have you all behind me in my work here! Have a amazing week!
