The Addiction Connection is a website loaded with resources, podcasts, training opportunities as well as a network of Addictions Biblical Counselors. The SPA’s counseling team has either completed or is in the process of becoming Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counselors through this organization.

Romans 8:5 speaks beautifully to the importance of where we allow our minds to dwell. In recovery, changing behaviors is important, but lasting transformation goes deeper. It involves learning to recognize old patterns, desires, and ways of thinking and choosing instead to set our minds on the things of God.

Addiction says, "I need this to cope."
The Spirit says, "Come to Me."

Addiction says, "Nothing will ever change."
The Spirit speaks HOPE.

Shame says, "Your past defines you."
God says, "You are being made new."

Romans 8:5 reminds us that recovery isn't simply about what we're leaving behind. It's also about what we're turning toward. As we continually turn our thoughts, desires, and lives toward Christ, He changes us from the inside out.

That's a powerful message for Recovery Month: A changed life begins with a changed direction - away from the things that once held us captive and toward the One who makes us free. 💜🙌

"One thing I do every day to maintain sobriety is stay focused to God and remember He has a plan for me and it doesn’t include drinking. The most important thing is to remember who I was and who God says I am. I love the person I am today. My mind is much clearer. I have purpose.

Friday, Sept. 25th, 3-7pm

"Join us as we celebrate Recovery Month by raising public awareness and eliminating stigma around mental health and substance use, and honoring recovery community members, families, and allies. This event is an opportunity to educate and connect our community with community-based recovery support and local resources."

🌱 Faith & Recovery - Addictions Recovery Class
This mixed-gender Bible study series focuses on finding hope, help, and recovery from substance use, behavioral addictions, harmful habits, and hurts. Participants open God's Word together, review recovery steps, receive support, and are reminded that there is always reason for hope.
