GRACE LETS GO

Forgiveness is a tricky thing. It’s healing. It’s life-saving. It’s beautiful. But it isn’t easy—not for sinful people, not even for God. But God is willing to forgive. Though the price was incredibly steep, our gracious God was willing to send away all of our sin and let go of all his anger. Empowered by that reality, he calls on us to do the same—for all.

The theme of worship today is “Grace lets go.”

The first lesson is Jonah 4. At the end of chapter 3, Ninevah has repented and God has relented from the disaster he had threatened. Jonah, however, is furious. It is a fascinating contrast between the hypocritical justice of men, which holds on to anger and resentment even when it hurts, and the grace of God, which is willing to be hurt in order to let it all go.

The second lesson is Romans 5:6-8. Jonah wanted the Ninevites to die on account of their sin. Christ was willing to die on account of ours.

The Gospel is Luke 6:27-36. How do we show ourselves to be God’s children? We do as he does. We are good, not only to those who are good to us, but to those who aren’t. We are kind to the ungrateful and the evil. We are merciful, just as our heavenly Father is merciful.

This week, Miss Rassat’s 1st grade class read Dumplings for Lili. Today, our 1st and 2nd graders brought the story to life by making their very own dumplings!

Once the dumplings were cooked, the students got to taste test their creations. And the final results are in…

Welcome Back!

The halls are once again filled with laughter, learning, and excitement as we welcome our students back for the 2026–2027 school year! ❤️

This year, our theme is “See His Greatness,” based on Psalm 145:3

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of great praise, and there are no limits to the extent of his greatness.”

As we begin a new school year, may our students see God’s greatness in the world around them, in the people He places in their lives, and most importantly, in His love and grace through Jesus.

We are excited for another year of learning, growing, serving, and sharing God’s love together. May God bless our students, teachers, families, and entire school community throughout the year!

REPENTANCE: A MYSTERIOUS WORKING OF GOD’S GRACE

What a miracle! The entire city of Nineveh repents at the preaching of Jonah. What an outpouring of grace on this pagan city! God’s heart yearned for these enemies of God’s people to turn to him and be saved. Let this be a lesson to us – that God cares for all of the people of the world – even those we do not know or like. No one is so far from the kingdom of God that God cannot reach out to him and bring him near. “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.” (Isaiah 59:1).

AFFLICTED IN GRACE

The question is almost as old as time: Where is God when I’m suffering? Of course, God is everywhere, all the time. But this week we see that God it is precisely in our pain, in our suffering that God is especially present and active. For it is often only through affliction and pain that the need for grace is understood and the gift of grace of God is valued and sought.

GRACE PURSUES RUNAWAYS

God loves the unlovable – and he pursues those who give him every reason to abandon them. God is the pursuer in our relationship with him. He loves when all possibility of love has ceased. He loves us just as we are – and too much to leave us that way. He pursues his rebellious prophet and chastens him so that he may “come to his senses” and understand the heart of God for all people.

THE CHRISTIAN’S DOUBTS ARE OVERCOME BY THE WORD

Wherever faith clings to the promises of God, doubt is always lingering in the back of our mind, constantly asking the serpent’s garden question, “Did God really say?” Especially in times of adversity doubt rears its ugly head—doubts about God’s care, God’s promises, God’s providence.

In those times, however, the true answer to doubt is not found in some great miracle that takes away our troubles. Rather, it is found in the still small voice of our Savior God, through the pages of his holy Word. Through that Word Christ reaches out to us with nail-scarred hands and gives us proof of his great love and his power to save. Jesus gently asks, “Why did you doubt?” And our faith is restored.

THE CHRISTIAN TRUSTS GOD TO PROVIDE

The hardest times to trust God are the times we need him most. It’s easier to trust God when your job is going great, your health is fine, your relationships are fine, and your family is good. It’s easier to trust God when the sun is shining, but what happens when your life is suddenly overshadowed by dark days?
When tragedy strikes, we may wonder if God continues to care for us. At those times, Christians do not despair like those who have no hope. Instead, Christians focus on certain foundational facts. We are
chosen and adopted as God’s dear children. God provides us innumerable spiritual blessings and promises us an eternity of peace and joy. If we recognize those spiritual blessings, how can we doubt that God will give us everything we truly need at the right time? Christians trust God to provide.
