"And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The preceding verse states that Enoch pleased God and was taken up to heaven without first dying. His faith is what made this possible. His faith was based upon His belief that Gods exists and rewards those who seek Him. This is basic faith that all must have for salvation. Faith does not mean that we understand all Bible doctrine, it simple means that we believe God. This belief in God includes Jesus as His Son and our Savior. How is your faith?

"By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh." Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Much has been written about the sacrifice gifts given by Cain and Abel. For a short devotional thought I will not go into them. I will simply point you to the beginning of this verse...by faith. No matter what we give to God, we are to give out of faith to Him and His word. This faith is more important than what we give. But, do know, it is simply assumed in this verse that believers will give back to God...our time, our talents, and our tithes. Are you giving?

"By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The matter of creation has been a hot topic for decades. It pits evolution against biblical creation. When I look at nature (stars, ocean, mountains, vegetation, animals, people) I never think evolution. I always think "God created this!" To me a night time sky of twinkling stars brings worship. The same faith that it takes for salvation is the kind of faith that I have about creation. I just believe that God did it. What about you?

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Faith. Without faith there is no salvation. Without faith there is no hope in difficult times. Faith does not always come easily. Some days we struggle with a lack of faith. The writer of Hebrews recognized the importance of faith and led by God devoted a whole chapter to the subject. Over the next few days we will examine these verses with the hope that our faith will be strengthened. Take time to read this chapter and reflect upon it.

I believe that God controls when and where we are born. There may be troublesome times for us, but He placed us here For Such A Time. What is needed for us to make the most of our time in this point of history?

"Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What a bold request! Are we willing to make the same request? Do we want God to search our minds and hearts? If so, what will He find? Will He find any wicked ways in us? Just know, whether we make this request or not, God is always searching us for wickedness. May this truth lead us to cleaner living for Him.

"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!" Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Have you ever thought about the fact that God thinks about YOU? According to the Psalmist, we cannot begin to number the thoughts that God has about us. He is a Father Who is concerned about his children and wants the best for each one. When things are going bad, reflect upon this truth for some consolation.

"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We are God's creation. Our beginning in our mothers' womb was a result of God. Every life is valuable even when still in the womb. Sadly, many today no longer believe this. The unborn are just as important as the born.
