Stand Until the Assignment Is Complete

Scripture: Joshua 4:10 NKJV
10 So the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan until everything was finished that the Lord had commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and crossed over.

The priests had to stand in the middle of the Jordan until the assignment was complete. Imagine that. They couldn't leave early. They couldn't say, “We've been standing here long enough.” They had to hold their position until everything God commanded was finished.

Sometimes obedience requires patience. You may be tired. You may not understand what God is doing. You may wonder why the answer has not come yet. But don't abandon your assignment because the process is uncomfortable.

Stay where God told you to stand until God tells you to move. And when God says move, don't stay because you're comfortable.There is a blessing in trusting God's timing.

Remember: Delayed does not mean denied, and waiting does not mean God has forgotten you.

Today’s Challenge: Where has God told you to remain faithful? Stay committed today, even if you don't see the outcome yet.

Prayer: Lord, strengthen me when I grow weary. Help me trust Your timing and remain faithful to my assignment. Teach me not to move ahead of You or lag behind You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Faith Must Move

Scripture: Joshua 4:8 NKJV
8 And the children of Israel did so, just as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones from the midst of the Jordan, as the Lord had spoken to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

Israel didn't merely hear God's instruction. They acted on it. That's faith. Faith is not simply believing that God can do something. Faith trusts God enough to obey Him.

The Jordan did not open so Israel could stand there forever admiring the miracle. God opened the river so they could cross over.

Sometimes we celebrate what God has done while refusing to do what God is asking us to do next. If the Lord says forgive, forgive. If God says serve, serve. If the Lord says give, give. If God says go, go. If the Lord says witness, witness.

Your miracle is not your destination. God brought you through for a purpose.

Remember: Don't just celebrate the crossing. Walk in obedience after the crossing.

Today’s Challenge: Identify one thing God has already told you to do. Stop delaying and take one obedient step today.

Prayer: Lord, I believe You. Now help me obey You. Give me courage to move when You say move and patience to wait when You say wait. Let my faith become visible through my actions. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Tell the Next Generation

Scripture: Joshua 4:6–7 NKJV
6 that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ 7 Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.”
“What do these stones mean to you?”

God knew there would come a day when the children would ask questions. So the Lord told Israel to prepare an answer. The stones were more than rocks. They were testimony tools.

God was teaching God’s people: When the next generation asks what I have done, tell them! Tell them about the prayers God answered. Tell them about the doors the Lord opened. Tell them about the times God provided when there seemed to be no provision. Tell them how the Lord kept you when you thought you would not make it.

Our children and grandchildren need more than what we can leave them materially. They need to know what God has done spiritually. Your testimony can become someone else’s memorial stone.

Remember: What God did for you may be the encouragement someone else needs.

Today’s Challenge: Tell one young person about a time God made a way for you.

Prayer: Father, help me become a faithful storyteller of Your goodness. Give me courage to share my testimony and wisdom to teach the next generation that You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

I went to my doctor in July for my check up. After reviewing my vitals he wasn’t too happy about my weight. He put me on a diet to eliminate sugars, fast food, processed foods, etc… I wasn’t too thrilled but it was necessary. I did what he told me to do. As of now, I’ve lost weight and feel amazing. I am continuing to cut back and stick to my diet.

God reminded me this is what Paul was referring to when he said, “Lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets us.”Hebrews 12:1. There are things we need to cut out and some people we need to cut off. If we are going to run for Christ, we must be healthy and in shape. God has given us a diet, things to cut away from (sin). When we sin we feel guilty, sluggish, and zapped. When we are obedient, we feel refreshed, whole, and new.

I encourage you to follow God’s diet plan and see the great wonders it does for you spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Don’t Forget the Crossing

Scripture: Joshua 4:1–3 NKJV
4 And it came to pass, when all the people had completely crossed over the Jordan, that the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying: 2 “Take for yourselves twelve men from the people, one man from every tribe, 3 and command them, saying, ‘Take for yourselves twelve stones from here, out of the midst of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet stood firm. You shall carry them over with you and leave them in the lodging place where you lodge tonight.’ ”

Israel had just experienced a miracle. The Jordan River had opened, and an entire nation had crossed on dry ground. But notice what happened next: God spoke. The miracle was over, but God’s voice was not.

Sometimes we get so excited about what God has done that we stop listening for what He wants to do next. We celebrate the blessing but forget the Blesser. A new season does not mean we stop listening to God. It means we listen more closely.

The same God who spoke to you in your difficult season is speaking in your new season. Keep praying. Keep reading His Word. Keep seeking His direction. Remember, you crossed over, but God is not finished with you.

Today’s Challenge: Spend 10 quiet minutes asking, “Lord, what are You saying to me in this new season?” Then listen.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for bringing me through. Help me never become so comfortable with my blessing that I stop listening to You. Give me ears to hear and a heart ready to obey. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Make Wisdom and Understanding the Principle Thing
Wisdom First: My New Normal

Scripture: Joshua 1:9 NKJV
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Reflection: We have reached the seventh day, but the journey is just beginning. As we move through August, the eighth month, representing new beginnings, we are reminded that God is doing something new. But our new normal cannot simply be a new calendar page.

It must be a new way of living. A new normal where we pray before we proceed. A new normal where we seek wisdom before success. A new normal where we choose character before platform. A new normal where we pursue purpose before popularity. A new normal where God's Word comes before our feelings. A new normal where obedience is greater than convenience. A new normal where our lives point people toward Jesus.

Joshua stepped into his new season with God's Word, God's wisdom, God's instructions, and God's presence. And God told him: “The LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” That's why we don't have to fear the new. We don't know everything that is ahead, but we know Who is ahead of us. And if God is with us, we can walk boldly into our new season.

Think About It: What will you intentionally make part of your “new normal” beginning today?

Action Step: Write and speak this declaration over your life: “I will seek wisdom before success. I will seek understanding before action. I will seek God's Word before my feelings. I will pray before I proceed. I will obey what God reveals. I will steward what God gives me. I will be a witness for Jesus Christ. I will not fear my new season because the Lord my God is with me wherever I go.”

Prayer: Father, thank You for this new season. Thank You for new beginnings, new opportunities, and new possibilities. Let wisdom become the foundation of my decisions and understanding guide my actions. Help me walk boldly into what You have prepared for me. Make my life a testimony, my obedience a witness, and my success a reflection of Your goodness. I declare that wisdom is my new normal. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Declaration: WISDOM FIRST! I will not chase success and leave wisdom behind. I will pursue wisdom. I will seek understanding. I will obey God's Word. I will steward God's blessings. I will live as a disciple. I will witness for Christ. I will walk boldly into my new season. For the Lord my God is with me wherever I go! This is my new beginning. This is my new season. THIS IS MY NEW NORMAL! Amen.

Make Wisdom and Understanding the Principle Thing
Let Your Wisdom Become Your Witness

Scripture: Matthew 5:16 NKJV
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Reflection: Your life is preaching something. People are watching how you handle pressure. They're watching how you handle success. They're watching how you respond when you're disappointed. They're watching how you treat people who cannot benefit you. They're watching whether your faith works outside the church.

Your wisdom can become a witness. When you choose patience instead of anger, someone is watching. When you forgive instead of retaliate, someone is watching. When you maintain integrity when compromise would benefit you, someone is watching. When you have peace in the middle of trouble, someone is watching.

And eventually someone may ask: “What makes you different?” That's your opportunity to say: “It's Jesus.” Evangelism isn't only standing behind a pulpit. Sometimes evangelism is the way you live in front of people who are trying to figure out whether Jesus is real. Your life may be the first Bible somebody reads.

Think About It: Who is watching your life right now?

Action Step: Identify one person who needs to see the love of Christ through you. Encourage them, serve them, pray for them, or share your testimony with them.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, let my life point people toward You. Give me wisdom, integrity, compassion, and courage. Help me live in such a way that people see Your light in me and desire to know You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Declaration: My wisdom is not just for me. My life will be a witness for Jesus Christ.

Make Wisdom and Understanding the Principle Thing
Wisdom Protects What Success Builds

Scripture: Proverbs 8:11 NKJV
11 For wisdom is better than rubies,
And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.

Reflection: Everybody wants success, but not everybody is prepared to steward success. You can receive an opportunity and not have the wisdom to handle it. You can receive an increase and not have the discipline to manage it. You can receive influence and not have the character to carry it. You can receive a blessing and allow the blessing to become a burden.

That's why wisdom must come first. God didn't simply prepare Joshua to enter the Promised Land. The Lord prepared Joshua to lead God's people once he got there. The goal isn't merely to get there. The goal is to get there and remain faithful.

Kingdom success means your success does not cost you your character, your integrity, your relationships, your peace, or your walk with God. Ask God for wisdom to steward everything He has entrusted to you. Your time. Your money. Your family. Your gifts. Your influence. Your opportunities. Your ministry. Your career. Wisdom protects what success builds.

Think About It: What has God already placed in your hands that requires better stewardship?

Action Step: Choose one area. For example, time, money, relationships, gifts, or responsibilities. Then make one wise stewardship adjustment today.

Prayer: Father, thank You for every blessing and opportunity You have placed in my life. Give me wisdom to steward them well. Help me value character more than applause and faithfulness more than recognition. Let my success honor You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
