Wednesday nite devotion
Text: Psalm 23:1-6.
This Psalm is one of everyones favorites. And even at 6 verses it contains so much.

It is a messianic Psalm. Which means it tells us of Jesus. I preached from these 6 verses 14 different thoughts which taught me the depth of this passage.

But today I want to touch on part of one verse, verse 4.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

The valley of the shadow of death. I dont have space to explain all of this.

So lets look at this from the perspective of the believer in Christ.

Death is only a shadow. It is not permanent. We are in this shadow from the moment we are conceived. And at the time we pass from this life. And also at dark times throughout this life.

For those of you who know Tina and my experiences currently, you know we are deep in this valley. But the sun will shine again either in this life or in the next.

O Lord help us to remember our redemption draweth nigh.

Joshua chapter 11:20
Judgment and mercy
Click on the link below for a brief sermon I listened to this morning on the way to church. We live in perilous and dark times.

As we approach the return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ we are taught in God's word how we should live in our final days.
(Heb. 10)

I hope you enjoy and learn from the sermon on the link below as I did.

Sunday nite devotion
Text: Matt. 24:32-35

Lets ponder on our text tonite. Verse 35 is the summation of the context.

Matt. 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

It is an amazing thought that this earth and heaven shall pass away. But this shall happen. The KJV Bible uses the word SHALL in this context instead of the word will used in other bible versions. Shall is a more certain word than will. It is a certain thing that the word of God will never pass away.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God.

Our faith is secure in the living word of God.

O Lord help us to never forget Jesus Christ yesterday today and forever.

Sunday nite devotion
Text: Ps. 139:1-24
"4 attributes of God"

This Psalm focues on 4 attributes of God. His knowledge of all things (vs 1-6). His presence is everywhere (vs 7-12). His power in creation of man (vs 13-18). His holiness that does 2 things, destroys wicked men, and searches the believers heart (vs 19-24).

Read all of this chapter in light of these things. And let our meditation tonite be on vs 23 and 24. We should be close enough to God to desire that he search us.

Ps. 139:23
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

Ps. 139:24
And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

O LORD, help us to draw close to you and that you search us and try us. Help us to repent of sin and lead us in the path of righteousness.

Wed. Nite devotion
"The believers hope"

Text: 2nd Cor. 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Have you ever thought about the true hope of the true believer? Selah, think on these things:

Out of this body into the presence of the Lord.
Out of this earth and into heaven.
Out of sin into righteousness.
Out of hope and into reality.
Out of bo***ge into freedom.
Out of burdens into rest.
Out of sorrow into joy.
Out of darkness into day.
Out of this tabernacle into our heavenly home.
Out of here into hereafter!

Ps. 118:24
This is the day the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

O LORD help us and guide our hearts our souls and our minds on what is truly important.

Sunday nite devotion
Text: John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Think on this verse. Love is not a new commandment. Read Lev. 19:18. It tells us to love others as we love ourselves. That is a high standard! But the highest standard is given in our text verse. We are to love one another as Jesus has loved us.

I realize some people are harder to love than others. How hard are we to love?

Think about Matt. 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Read Matt. 5:43-46 for context. Also read Rom. 12:20.

Text: Luke 10:38-42

Recently we looked at this text. Tonite I want to look a little deeper.

Which do we choose? Do we choose what we think is important or what the Lord looks on as necessary. Do we reflect Mary or Martha?

Luke 10:41-42
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things.

But ONE thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Mary was not doing what Martha expected of her. But Mary was doing what pleasing to the Lord. We can make ourselves busy with needful things and miss what pleases our Lord.

So lets think deeper. If we are doing "important" things but leaving out "pleasing" God, what are we really doing?

Think about the word
"Anti". In the greek it means "instead of?

What is most important? Are we doing things "instead of" what God expects?

If so, we are pleasing ourselves, not God.
Which means we are doing "anti" Christ things!

O Lord
Help us to turn back and repent.
