Peacemaker Award – 2026 Guidelines & Criteria
Award Overview
A $1,000 scholarship funded by the Dana Summey Memorial Scholarship Fund and Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Presented to a deserving senior from Dublin City High School.
Recipient selected by the Peacemaker Award Committee at HMPC.
Submission Deadline: March 13, 2026.
Purpose
The Peacemaker Award honors a student who exemplifies peacemaking qualities—fostering harmony, understanding, and constructive relationships within their school, community, and personal life.
Selection Process
• Candidates may be nominated by faculty, school leaders, peers, or self-nominated.
• Submissions reviewed by the HMPC selection committee.
• Nominees may be invited for an interview with the committee.
Application Requirements
Submit the following to [email protected] by March 13, 2026:
1. Completed application
2. Video essay
3. One reference endorsement (community or faculty member)
Award Presentation
• Scholarship presented during an 11:00 AM worship service (date announced later). Recipient must attend.
• Recognition at the school’s Honors Ceremony.
• Funds sent directly to the recipient’s chosen college or school.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to peace through actions and attitudes, including:
1. Resolving conflicts and promoting harmony.
2. Encouraging constructive responses over anger-driven reactions.
3. Making meaningful contributions toward a better world.
4. Understanding peace as cooperative efforts for everyone’s welfare.
Video Essay Questions

1. Why are you a worthy candidate for the Peacemaker Award?
2. Describe a specific incident where you demonstrated peacemaking.
3. Discuss challenges of promoting peace in:
- Your school
- Your community
- Our country
