In July, an East Dublin recovery group received training on how to use Narcan. Eight days later, one of their clients overdosed on fentanyl during a church service.

Celebrate the small wins. You don’t have to wait until you’ve gotten your dream job, bought a new car, or stayed clean for years to vocalize your victories.

I pulled up my bank account and there aren’t parentheses around my balance. RECOVERY SUCCESS

I went to sleep last night on a bed with sheets on it, and a frame and box springs underneath it, not a mattress lying on the floor. RECOVERY SUCCESS

I ate “surf & turf” last month, and it was actually steak and shrimp, not beef flavored ramen noodles with crushed up Goldfish. RECOVERY SUCCESS

Now that you’ve got it, are you complaining about the number of hours you have to work?

Custody of your children that you begged for every time the pastor asked for prayer requests?

PLEASE READ: I rarely use social media to solicit donations, but this cause is very important to me. At Christian Recovery Centers, we have 80+ men in the early stages of recovery from drug addiction and alcoholism. A large portion of them came to us with little more than the clothes on their back. Through financial and material donations as well as faith in God to provide, we have been able to provide services to everyone who is eligible to enter regardless of their ability to pay their intake fee upfront. This has given us the ability to allow every resident to undergo our intensive 30-60 day intake phase which includes 7 hours of classes and groups every weekday.

Our ability to bring people into our program in this manner means that we are able to offer our unique recovery services to as many people as possible. It also means that as Christmas comes near, we have a multitude of people who are unable to buy many (or in some cases, any) gifts for their children.

I will be playing Christmas music several nights a week to raise awareness for this. If you find it in your heart to donate to this cause, please reach out to me. All donations are tax deductible due to our status as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and all donations made through this campaign will go completely towards gifts for the children of the men in our program. If you would rather pick a child or children and get gifts specifically for them, or just gifts in general, I will gladly come pick them up or pay to have them shipped.
