STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE!
Paul reminds us that love fulfills the law because love seeks the good of our neighbor. If we truly love our neighbor, we won't intentionally harm them. We won't treat them as an enemy simply because they think differently. We won't use our words to tear them down.
Love your neighbor. Because the greatest debt we will ever owe - and the greatest gift we will ever give - is love. Fortunately for us, when it comes to God's love, we will never run out of opportunities to receive it or share it.
Romans 13:8-14

PUTTING SELF ON THE SHELF
Jesus calls His followers to a life of self-denial and faithful obedience. Though the path may be difficult, taking up our cross leads to true life and participation in God's glory. Worshiping together, we acknowledge our need for God's guidance, confess our reluctance to follow, and celebrate the promise of redemption and eternal life.

POWER AND IDENTITY
There is something both fascinating and dangerous about power. We often assume that the person with the biggest title, the loudest voice, or the most authority must be the person who has the most power. But the Scriptures today tell us a different story. The midwives, Moses, and Jesus used power to set people free. Because we belong to Christ, we are called to use whatever power, influence, privilege, or authority we have, not to control others, but to serve them.
Exodus 1:10-2:8

WHO BELONGS?
Unity is not about everyone being the same. It is about discovering that God's grace is bigger than the things that divide us. We live in a world that seems remarkably good at creating divisions. Sometimes we even bring those divisions into the church. But today's gospel keeps calling us back. The Canaanite woman reminds us that sometimes faith comes from the person we least expect. Psalm 133 reminds us how beautiful it is when we recognize that we are, ultimately, one family. Perhaps the question for us today is not, "Who belongs here?" Instead, perhaps we should ask, "Who is God inviting us to welcome?"
Psalm 133 & Matthew 15: 21-28

WITH A SONG IN YOUR STEP
Today's texts include both a Psalm and a story about Jesus walking on the waters of a turbulent sea. The psalm reminds us to sing because of God's faithfulness in the past, while the Gospel calls us to trust Jesus in the uncertainty of the present. Singing becomes an act of faith that helps us keep our eyes on Christ. God is always faithful in the good times and in the challenging times. Maybe that is why Methodists have always been "singing people." Songs help us step out in faith.
Psalm 105: 1-11
Matthew 14: 22-33
