One of the most shocking moments in the Bible happened between Jesus and Peter.

Not a demon.
Not an enemy.
Not a Pharisee.

Peter.

The same Peter who left everything to follow Jesus.
The same Peter who walked on water.
The same Peter who boldly declared that Jesus was the Messiah.

Yet Jesus turned to him and said:

“Get behind Me, Satan.”

Why?

Because Peter tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross.

His intentions were good.
He wasn’t being hateful.
He wasn’t trying to rebel against God.

He thought he was protecting the One he loved.

But in that moment, Peter was focused on human reasoning instead of God’s purpose. What seemed loving to Peter was actually standing in the way of God’s plan.

And that’s a warning for all of us.

Good intentions do not automatically make something right.

We can sincerely believe we’re helping, defending, protecting, or doing the right thing—and still be resisting what God wants.

Not everything that feels right is right.
Not everything that makes sense to us makes sense in God’s kingdom.

Following Jesus requires more than sincerity.
It requires surrender.

Sometimes the greatest act of faith is laying down our opinions, our understanding, and our plans, and trusting that God’s way is better than our own. 🙏🏻🤍
