Sunday Morning Sermon, August 30th 2026

Question: 31% of people have a nickname for THIS. What is it?
Answer: Their guitar!

Have you ever given a nickname to an instrument or object like a car? Have you ever been given a nickname by a loved one?

There's something about sweet nicknames that express beautiful terms of endearment. They take up residence in our hearts and whether given or received, they show that someone or something is beloved and delighted in. The truth is, God calls you His child and delights in you as a parent does in their beloved kids. It's an unqualified belovedness that has nothing to do with what we do, only who we are in His eyes.

We're in for a treat, because our good friend Bekah Stewart is bringing us a message on this topic in a sermon called "The Truest Truth: We are the Beloved."

Sunday Morning Sermon, August 23rd 2026

Question: 91% of people say they trust people over 65 to help them understand this. What is it?
Answer: How much postage to use!

We all need a someone trustworthy to help us when we don't understand something. In today's passage, our hero Daniel didn't understand what was going on. Yet he was still able to trust God in the middle of it. Can we say the same in the middle of our confusion?

Today pastor Jill wraps up our sermon series in the book of Daniel on this very subject, in a sermon called "Hope for New Beginnings, Endings & In the Meantime."

Sunday Morning Sermon, August 16th 2026

Question: Over half of workers surveyed said they wish their employers provided a better quality of this. What is it?
Answer: Coffee!

Wouldn’t it be great to give the people in our lives our very own wish list—our wishes for what we need, what our dreams are, and even what we hope the future will hold—and that they could actually fulfill that wish list??

Whether or not we admit it, we often wish we could do this with God—give God the wish list of things that we want to happen, as well as the things we don’t want to happen—and have Him fulfill it. We don’t understand how He works. His ways are not our ways, and yet He it calls us to trust Him because He is GOOD. This morning, we see how God shows Daniel what the future holds. Even though it’s mostly what Daniel doesn’t want to happen, God calls Daniel (and us!) to trust that He’s not done yet and that He’s up to something good. Pastor Jill’s message is called "When God's People Pray."

Sunday Morning Sermon, August 9th 2026

Question: In physics and electronics, this word defines the time it takes light to travel one centimeter in a vacuum. What is this commonly used word?
Answer: The word is JIFFY, as in, "I'll do it in a jiffy" or "It won't take a jiffy."

How quick is a jiffy? 33 pico seconds. That is 3.3 x 10 to the negative 11th power. Wow.

Sometimes common words or phrases we use might have different meanings given their context. They might even be called something different in a given time of history. For instance, what we might call devotional reading today, was called Lectio Divina in ancient forms of Christianity.

That's what we're going to talk about and spend some time participating in this Sunday. As we continue moving through the book of Daniel, we are going to participate in a group Lectio Divina and engage with God's word in what might be a new or fresh way for you. Pastor Wes will lead us in this formational practice of engaging with scripture as we seek to encounter God in and through His word from Daniel Chapter 9. It might take longer than a jiffy, but it's worth the time.
