Today we celebrate the feast day of Saint Teresa of Calcutta!

Mother Teresa dedicated her life to serving Christ in the poorest and most vulnerable, and her impact was global. In fact, the two photos of Mother Teresa used in this post were taken during her visits to Denver in 1986 and 1989! On her second visit, she established a local Missionaries of Charity community.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us. 🙏 Special feast day shoutout to the local Missionaries of Charity who serve out of . Joseph Catholic Parish in Denver!

Join us in celebrating our September Disciple of the Month, Peggy Morrow! 🎉

For nearly 10 years, Peggy has helped families at . Scholastica Catholic Church in Erie grow in faith together. Guided by the Holy Spirit, she has helped build a family faith formation program that equips parents to embrace their role as the primary educators of their children in the faith.

From catechetical games and storytelling to prayer and Eucharistic Adoration, Peggy brings joy into formation and helps families discover that faith is meant to be lived and shared at home.

“Joy and laughter are contagious,” Peggy said.

Congratulations on being named the Archbishop's Catholic Appeal Disciple of the Month, Peggy!

Archbishop Golka's favorite local restaurant might remain a secret 🤫 but we at least got him to share what's for dinner! 🥖

The bigger takeaway? For Archbishop Golka, a good meal is really about the people gathered around the table. But meatballs and bruschetta definitely help.

This is the final part of Archbishop Golka’s Favorite Things, but stay tuned to our socials for more fun and wisdom from Archbishop in the coming weeks!

September is traditionally dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, inviting us to draw close to Mary as she remained faithfully beside her Son through suffering and the Cross.

This month, we ask Our Lady of Sorrows to help us unite our own trials to Christ.

Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us. đź’™

“They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.” — Isaiah 2:4

On this World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, Pope Leo XIV invites us to reflect on the deep connection between peace and the protection of our common home.

War scars the land, destroys resources and leaves lasting harm for generations to come. The prophet Isaiah offers another vision: instruments of destruction transformed into tools that cultivate life.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace and faithful caretakers of all you have made.

What’s Archbishop Golka’s favorite book? 📖

His answer starts with the obvious choice for a bishop — the Bible! — but his reason for returning to Scripture again and again is worth hearing.

In the latest Archbishop Golka’s Favorite Things, he shares a few other books that have shaped him and a challenge he first encountered in Thomas Merton's "The Seven Storey Mountain."
