The Church traditionally dedicates the month of September to Our Lady of Sorrows.

As an Assumption family, may we spend this month close to Mary, who knows what it means to love faithfully through suffering. Let us bring her our own sorrows and the needs of those we love, asking her to lead us ever closer to her Son.

Middleschool and Highschool Students of Assumption Parish and School, come join us for a our yearly jaunt over to Mt Olivet Cemetery in Wheatridge for Night in the Cemetery. The Church reveres John’s memory because, in Venerable Bede’s words, “He stamped with the seal of martyrdom the testimony which he delivered on behalf of our Lord.” This testimony is deeper than one passion pointing to another.

St John’s passion points to Christ’s passion. But St John points to Christ by conforming himself to Christ’s death in the very reason for which John lays down his life.

Today we celebrate St. Augustine of Hippo, one of the greatest saints and teachers of the Catholic Church.

After a long journey of searching for truth, Augustine found his heart’s true home in Christ. His life reminds us that it is never too late to turn toward God and that His grace can transform our lives.

St. Augustine, pray for us!
May we seek God above all things and allow His grace to lead us closer to Him. ❤️‍🔥

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.

St. Monica 🌹

Today we honor St. Monica, a mother of deep faith and perseverance who never stopped praying for the conversion of her son, St. Augustine. Her life reminds us to trust God’s timing and never give up praying for our loved ones.

Dear St Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favourably hear my plea for (Share your request…)
and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
