From Bonnie...at the church (Bonnie, our Business Manager of 37 years!):

"Thank You” to each and every one for giving me the gift of knowing, loving, and serving you and the St. Benedict Parish family for thirty-seven plus years.

It has been a career – a joy, a love, a privilege, an honor! When I would ask myself why I stayed – the answer was always the same – I loved serving and helping each of you and the parish family. Parishioners became friends, friends became family….family is forever! In all of it, it was always “you!” I am so appreciative, grateful, and thankful for being able to serve every one of you – my dear family. I love all of you!

Thank you for the retirement party: all who helped and worked, the beautiful picture of “Jesus and the Lamb,” the two books with all your messages, the Bible with all your favorite verses and scripture to guide me, your cards, gifts, and words of kindness, love, and appreciation. I do not know what to say or how to thank you enough. I am so truly blessed!

In retiring, I am leaving a big piece of my heart there with all of you, and I am keeping all of you in my heart and prayers. It is impossible for me to say “goodbye”... I just cannot and I will not…So, it is “see you later!” I will be back and visiting! Only the best to all of you, my St. Benedict Parish family. You all will remain in my heart forever!
Love and Prayers always and forever…. to you…my parish family!

Loads of Love,
Bonnie ……...at the church

FAITH IN ACTION: POSTVILLE RELIEF (Update from Catholic Charities)

Thank you to all who have supported our ongoing disaster relief efforts in Postville, whether that be contributing a monetary gift, sharing your time, or uplifting the community in prayer.

We are in the initial phase of our disaster response, focused on addressing needs resulting from the loss of employment due to the fire at Agri Star. We hope to provide rental assistance to as many eligible households as possible to help ease some of their financial burden during this difficult time.

Our team of case managers, immigration attorneys, and bilingual counselors have been on-site in Postville on multiple days, walking alongside those who are most vulnerable.

For those interested in contributing to this effort, please visit catholiccharitiesdubuque.org/postville. 100% of donations will be distributed to those impacted by the fire. Any donations collected at a parish can be mailed to:

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque

We had over 45 people participate in our Lent 2025 offering of Healing the Whole Person. Here is how one participant described their experience:
"I think this series has been VERY good & for me, it couldn’t have happened at a better time. I have been dealing with a very emotional & difficult time the past few months & it has been this series that has helped get me through some of the days."

"I am excited to share with you that our new director of youth formation is Michelle Davis. Michelle brings lots of energy and ideas to this ministry. Because of her teaching schedule, she can only serve for 15 hours per week.

The youth formation assistant is Samantha Reilly, whose heart is to form intentional disciples. She will serve for 10 hours a week.

I know that the formation of our youth is a priority for our parish. But as you can see, with limited hours, Michelle and Samantha can't do it all. We need lots of parents and others to step up and be a part of the lives of our young people. Michelle and Samantha will be asking for your help. Please be open to being part of making our youth formation program a success this year. It will be as alive as we together will make it."

We are now in a Pastorate with Notre Dame - Cresco, IA , what does that mean for the money you give to the parish? Mindy Jones, Business Manager at Notre Dame in Cresco, gave a great overview of how finances work in this past weekend's bulletin:

"On July 14, 2026, we became the Cresco-Decorah Area Pastorate. What does that mean for the weekend collections at each Mass in the Pastorate? As the business manager at Notre Dame Parish and a member of the Cresco-Decorah Area Pastorate Team, this is what I know: Any contribution marked Notre Dame will stay with the Notre Dame Parish and any contribution marked St. Benedict will stay with the St. Benedict Parish. Money not identifying a parish that is placed in the collection basket, will be designated to the pastorate account for the shared expenses. This will be the protocol for the next year.

There are three methods that ensure the gift will remain with the designated parish: 1) Use the traditional budget envelope provided to you by the parish.
2) Use a plain envelope and write the name of the parish here you would like your contribution to go.
3) Electronic giving: either through ACH or EFT A pastorate checking account has been opened and will be used for shared pastorate expenses.

Right now, the shared expenses for the Cresco-Decorah Area Pastorate are priest salaries and household expenses. Also, mileage for the priests and the staff travelling between Decorah and Cresco is another shared pastorate expense.

All the support that you give to Notre Dame and St. Benedict Parish is greatly appreciated. Notre Dame Parish and St. Benedict Parish are both great parishes and Cresco-Decorah Area Pastorate will be a great pastorate!"
