Yesterday the Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. May 31 also marks the celebration of the Feast of the Visitation where Mary’s heart overflows with joy and gratitude not for herself, but for the incredible wonders of God. Following the vision of Father Chaminade, we celebrate this beautiful moment of community, faith, and mutual support that continues to inspire our mission today.

Dive deeper into this spirit of holy sisterhood by reading Sr. Rose Rucoba, FMI’s "The Two Thérèses and the Visitation" on our website at https://loom.ly/qztzppo.

In his latest article published by NACMS, Bro. Bob Moriarty, SM, uses the concepts of "aggiornamento" (bringing up to date) and "ressourcement" (returning to the source) to explore the evolution of Blessed Chaminade’s original missionary vision. This historical analysis examines community building within the Marianist Family and emphasizes why "development" is essential for the charism to flourish in today’s Church and world.

Today we find ourselves at a unique intersection of gratitude, remembrance, and divine protection. As we observe Memorial Day, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our earthly freedom, we also celebrate the Feast of Mary, Help of Christians—a title that reminds us we are never alone in our struggles, as a nation and individually.

In light of Memorial Day, our offices are closed today and we will resume normal office hours tomorrow, May 26.

This Pentecost Sunday, we invite you to reflect on the "mature presence" of Mary in the Upper Room. In his article, Fr. Thomas Schroer, SM, challenges us to look beyond the youthful Mary of the Annunciation to the "wounded and wise" woman at Pentecost.

Just as sailors relied on the stars to navigate turbulent waters, we trust in Mary’s presence to lead us closer to her son, Jesus, amidst the joys and challenges of our mission. Our Lady, Star of the Sea, pray for us.

Join us at the upcoming Marianist Lay Assembly in Louisville, Kentucky, where NACMS staff members Jessica González Uhlig and Sr. Laura Leming, FMI, will explore how Mary continues to navigate us toward a future of faith and community in the workshop "Mary as Wayfinder." Nick Castelli, a theology teacher at Kellenberg Memorial High School, recently visited NACMS to research Father Chaminade’s profound devotion to Mary. Guided by Brother Tim Phillips, SM, NACMS scholar-in-residence, Castelli explored the library’s extensive collection of primary sources and theological works. He plans to integrate these insights into an upcoming "theodrama" publication, bridging historical Marianist scholarship with creative theological expression.

How do we continue educating with integrity when the world around us is rapidly shifting? In his latest article, "Marianist Education: Confidence and Conscience," Bro. Tom Giardino, SM, examines the intersection of “confidence” and “conscience” through the lens of Fr. Joseph Simler’s leadership during his time as Superior General of the Society of Mary. Facing the intense secularization of eighteenth-century France, Simler’s leadership provides a blueprint for maintaining an educational mission without sacrificing personal integrity.
