On Sept. 13th -
💙 “𝗜 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂” — 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 💙
This year’s theme, selected by 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗫𝗜𝗩, is “I will never forget you” (cf. Isaiah 49:5)—a beautiful reminder that no one is forgotten in the eyes of God.

Our grandparents and elderly family members have given us so much: their love, wisdom, stories, faith, and presence. This celebration invites us to make time for them—and especially to remember those who may be lonely or have no one to visit them.

As Pope Leo XIV reminds us:

God’s unwavering love is the ultimate answer to the isolation and neglect so often experienced by the elderly. He knows each of us personally, forgets no one, and loves us unconditionally—even through the frailties of old age.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁, 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆? A simple visit can be a beautiful gift—and a powerful reminder that you are not forgotten.

Catholic teaching tells us that not only are workers due a “just wage” with which they can provide for their families’ needs; they also deserve opportunities for rest and dignity-affirming benefits such as quality health care and paid time off. In addition, work should be something that enhances one’s human dignity (see Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, nos. 284, 287, 301, 302).

What a joyful summer across the Diocese of Davenport! ☀️ From Totus Tuus to youth camps, our parishes and schools were filled with faith, fellowship, and fun.

We’re grateful for the missionaries, families, students, clergy, volunteers, and parish communities who made these summer experiences so meaningful.

Thank you for helping young people grow closer to Christ while making memories together!

When we invest in people, the impact reaches far beyond one person. Six women from the Diocese of Davenport are participating in Catholic Extension’s Mujer Valiente Leadership Program, receiving scholarship-supported leadership and faith formation. Through prayer, theological formation, reflection and fellowship, these women are growing as leaders who can bring their gifts back to their parishes and communities.
