🌿 Summer in the Psalms | Psalm 1 & 2 Together

ā€œPsalm one teaches us how God’s people are to live. And Psalm two teaches us who God’s king is.ā€ — Elder Erik DuBois

Psalm 2 reminds us that the King God has established is not uncertain, weak, or threatened. He is Christ. And the people of God live by taking refuge in Him.

Join us this Sunday as we continue our Summer in the Psalms.

šŸ’” Did you know? Father’s Day in the United States began because a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to honor her father, a widowed Civil War veteran who faithfully raised six children on his own. The first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington.

šŸ’™ Happy Father’s Day šŸ’™

Today we thank God for fathers, grandfathers, and the men who have faithfully loved, led, protected, and pointed us to Christ. Your influence matters, and we praise God for His good gift of godly fatherhood.

At the same time, we know today can carry grief for many. Some are missing their dad. Some are walking through broken relationships. Some long to be fathers or are carrying other hurts that this day brings to the surface.

As the church, we hold both gratitude and grief with open hands. We rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep, trusting that our compassionate Father meets us in every circumstance.

šŸ“– ā€œBe watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.ā€ — 1 Corinthians 16:13–14 (ESV)

Whether today is marked by celebration, sorrow, or a little of both, may we all look to our perfect Heavenly Father, who never leaves us and whose love never fails.

🌿 Summer in the Psalms | Psalm 1

ā€œThe Psalms’ primary purpose is to point us to Jesus.ā€
— Elder Conrad Davenport

Psalm 1 is not merely about moral improvement; it ultimately directs our eyes to Christ, the truly Blessed Man and the source of life for His people.

šŸ“– ā€œFor the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.ā€ — Psalm 1:6 (ESV)

šŸ“– Summer in the Psalms ā˜€ļø

The Book of Psalms is the inspired hymnbook of God’s people—a collection of songs, prayers, laments, and praises that reveal the full range of the believer’s experience before a sovereign God. Throughout the Psalms, we see God’s covenant faithfulness, His kingship over all creation, and countless shadows and promises that find their fulfillment in Christ.

Join us this summer as we walk through the Psalms, learning how to worship, pray, trust, repent, and rejoice through every season of life.

Why Worship Matters

Worship is not simply the songs we sing on Sunday—it is the joyful response of redeemed hearts to the glory of God. When we gather as the church, we are reminded of who God is, what Christ has accomplished, and why He alone is worthy of our praise.

The Puritan pastor John Owen wrote:

ā€œThe greatest sorrow and burden you can lay on the Father, the greatest unkindness you can do to Him, is not to believe that He loves you.ā€

True worship flows from believing that God has loved us in Christ, saved us by grace, and adopted us as His children. We don’t worship to earn His favor—we worship because we have already received it through Jesus.

šŸ“– Worship lifts our eyes above our circumstances.
šŸ™ Worship strengthens our faith.
ā¤ļø Worship unites God’s people.
šŸ‘‘ Worship gives God the glory He deserves.

ā€œOh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!ā€ — Psalm 95:6

Revelation isn’t a puzzle meant to stir speculation—it’s a God-given unveiling of Jesus Christ as the reigning King over all history. Through vivid imagery and apocalyptic language, it reveals the certainty of Christ’s victory, the perseverance of His Church, and the final judgment and restoration of all things. It calls believers to endurance, holiness, and worship in a world that often opposes the truth.

That’s why faithful, verse-by-verse preaching matters. When Scripture is carefully exegeted, we aren’t left guessing or chasing sensational interpretations—we are grounded in what God has actually said. From a Reformed perspective, Revelation magnifies God’s sovereignty, His covenant faithfulness, and the assurance that nothing unfolds outside His divine decree.

Join us as we walk through Revelation together, letting Scripture interpret Scripture and fixing our eyes on Christ.

At our church, we believe in expository preaching—teaching the Bible by carefully walking through Scripture verse by verse, chapter by chapter, and book by book.

This means the message comes from God’s Word, not personal opinion. We want to understand the original meaning of the text, apply it faithfully to our lives, and keep Christ at the center of every sermon.

As a Reformed church, we believe the Bible is sufficient, authoritative, and powerful to transform hearts. We are not gathered for entertainment—we are gathered to know God, grow in truth, and be shaped by His Word.

If you are looking for a church that values sound doctrine, biblical discipleship, and the faithful preaching of Scripture, we would love to welcome you.

Come worship with us this Sunday!

Strong churches are built on strong men who are rooted in truth, sharpened by accountability, and committed to walking faithfully with Christ.

Our men’s group isn’t just another gathering—it’s a place where brothers come together to grow in the Word, bear one another’s burdens, and lead their homes and communities with conviction and humility.

ā€œAs iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.ā€ — Proverbs 27:17

In a culture that often pulls men in every direction, this is where we are called back to what matters most.

When men are grounded in Scripture and committed to discipleship, it strengthens families, deepens the life of the church, and brings glory to God.

Our men’s group meets every Sunday evening at the Alonso Home. If you’re looking for community, truth, and purpose—you belong here.
