Security,

When we idolize security, we are tempted to keep our eyes on the external scenarios, possible dangers and the what ifs, consequently taking our eyes off Jesus.

Matthew 14 is a great example of this.
- Peter was told to not take his eyes off Christ. When he did not listen and looked around, then he began to panic, fear devoured him and he began to sink. But while keeping his eyes on Jesus, and focusing on him, he was walking on water!

The walls of security we build for ourselves are flimsy and unreliable… They will stand temporarily but will never stand forever!

True security cannot be in ourselves and what we do or say… True security only comes from God.

When the world threatens your security, how are you responding?

Will you try to build your own walls, focus on what you can do? Or will you keep your eyes on Jesus, focus on him and what HE can do?

We are excited to lend a helping hand to the Baptist Tabernacle Clothing Closet in Altavista, Va this month!
This clothing closet has been a tremendous blessing to many families in need already and there will be more to come!
If you would like to donate, we are taking donations at Temple Baptist Church for the month of April.

All seasons of clothes are welcome but summer items especially for kids are a major need right now!

Clothes can be used but not worn out..

Are you in alignment with Christ?

When we are not in alignment with Christ, many things become off balance causing our lives to feel more troublesome than joyous..

It affects our prayers.
Our prayers will not be effective in the way we want them to be or think they are because we have gotten out of alignment.

Our path becomes crooked when it’s suppose to be straight…
God is actively moving us in the right direction every single day, even when it seems nothing is happening and we are going nowhere, but then we decide to slowly start taking things into our own hand, trying to lead and guide through a course we’ve never seen before, causing us to slowly get off track and before we realize it, we are in a ditch or wrapped around a tree we did not see coming.

But God waits patiently for us to surrender control and put us back on the original path He intended for us. That doesn’t mean there won’t be bumps in the road along the way, it just means the creator of those bumps will be there to get us over them without getting lost.

Sometimes we overcomplicate our faith…

We make it harder than it has to be by placing traditional religious values above God’s Word.

Placing bridges on a road that has no water, or adding boulders to a path meant to be smooth.

We overthink things God made to be simple, causing more fear than faith, telling ourselves more lies than truth and causing us to stumble more than standing steadfast.

But God called us to be follower as dear children! 9 times out 10 children are just ready to go wherever, whenever and with whoever. They never take their eyes of the person they’re following; the one who has a plan and knows where the path leads.

Your walk with Christ should not be one of complication and hatred but of faith and Love for Him. Be excited about where God is taking you, even in the hard moments. Experiencing joy in the simple things even in places where there should be none.

What is one way you can practice child-like faith today?

YOU ARE IMPORTANT

As humans, we often deal with the lies of comparing ourselves to others…

But as the body of Christ, no member, job or title is more important or more valuable than the other. Everyone is important to make things work according to how God wants it to be!

This is the BODY of Christ, meaning it takes all kinds of people, all kinds of jobs, and everyone facing the same direction in order to make things work!

So you may not feel like you do enough, or you’re not talented enough.

But the good news is that God didn’t ask you to be anything but you.

He died to save YOU.
He has made you who He wants you to be.
He’s going to keep making you into a clearer picture of Him.

Be yourself, and let God use you just like you are to be a part of His perfect plan.
