Took the girls bowling the other day, and let me tell you… it was more than just a fun outing. It was laughter that filled the lanes, smiles that once felt impossible, and moments that reminded me just how far they’ve come. Watching them enjoy something so simple, yet so meaningful, is something I’ll never take for granted.

These are the moments that make it all worth it. Freedom looks good on them. Healing looks even better.

My name is Ashlea.

Before I came to Life Changers, I lived in darkness. Not just a bad season… real darkness. The kind where you wake up and don’t even recognize yourself anymore.

I was in and out of jail. From trap house to trap house. Used. Abused. Addicted to anything I could get my hands on. I worshiped the darkness and truly believed I would never see the light again.

I lost my kids.My family wanted nothing to do with me.I was so lost for so long that I believed I could never come back.

But on April 4th, 2025, everything changed.

I walked into Life Changers broken and lifeless… and God met me there.

He picked me up out of the pit I had dug for myself. He carried me when I couldn’t walk on my own. He began putting the shattered pieces of my life back together — piece by piece.

Today…

My kids love me and want me in their lives.My parents trust me and welcome me around again.I am engaged to the man God intended for me to spend my life with.Most importantly, I have a real relationship with Jesus.

I don’t see darkness anymore. Now everything looks different. Everything feels different. I see beauty. I see purpose. I see light.

If you feel stuck… if you feel too far gone… if you think you’ve messed up too much to come back — I promise you, you haven’t.

If God can pull me out of that darkness, He can pull you out too.

And if you’re ready for change, we have open beds available right now. There is a place for you here. There is hope for you here. There is freedom waiting for you here.

This past Wednesday, we had the honor of celebrating Justin and his graduation. Watching him stand surrounded by people who have walked beside him, prayed for him, and believed in him was a powerful reminder that restoration is real. What once felt impossible is now his testimony.

Graduation isn’t the end of his story—it’s the beginning of a new chapter built on faith, accountability, and hope. We are incredibly proud of the man he has become and grateful for the work God has done in his life.

If you or someone you love is still in the middle of their fight, please know there is a way forward. We currently have open beds and would be honored to walk alongside anyone ready to take that step toward freedom and healing.

We were grateful for the opportunity to take our students to see David, an impactful film that highlights faith, courage, and obedience to God. The experience provided a valuable setting for reflection and meaningful conversation, allowing students to connect the message of the film with their own journeys. Moments like these play an important role in encouragement, mentorship, and continued personal and spiritual development.
