Jamie Lynn Shambaugh, 61, of Bowling Green, MD, passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by her family on March 24, 2026.
She was born April 5, 1964, in Cumberland, to the late James and Catherine “Katie” Forbeck. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Michael Shambaugh; father-in-law, Ray Shambaugh; and a brother-in-law, Larry Lee Dicken.
The Lord came first in her life, followed by her family, and then her church family. She was known for her career as a teller at Chessie FCU and loved working with, building relationships with, and supporting the members there. Sadly, she was just ten days from retirement at the time of her passing.
Davis Memorial Global Methodist Church was her home away from home. She was saved, welcomed, and supported there by her church family and pastor. She was looking forward to spending more time, in retirement especially, reading Psalms, singing in the choir, volunteering with the Women of Faith, and making apple butter with the church.
“Chub”, as her family lovingly called her, is survived by her husband of nearly 47 years, Barry Dean Shambaugh; a daughter, Whitney N. Shambaugh and partner Rick Mulligan; siblings, Kathy Dicken, Helen “Red” Forbeck and partner Tim Lapp, Andrea “Jo” Dicken, and James “Jimbo” Forbeck; and her very large extended family and many friends.
Viewings will take place Friday, March 27th from 1-3:00pm and 6-8:00pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD.
Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 28th from 10-11:00am at the funeral home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am with Pastors Leo Lavin and Rob Pierson officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the medical team that cared for Chub and helped so much over the years. Special thanks go to the nurses and staff at the UPMC Western Maryland Dialysis Unit and Dr. Mareedu; as well as to the heart surgeon who saved her life at WVU Ruby, Dr. Raikar.
