Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants. 2 Timothy 25:26

There are few things I think Paul was very serious about. Don’t get involved in foolish arguments. He said this twice, bringing it to top of mind. These kinds of discussions do not bring glory to the King of Kings and certainly do not win souls for the kingdom. A true servant of the Lord must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Through grace upon grace, love and lead in the way of the Cross. So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. Hebrews 2:1

I was speaking with a lady yesterday and asked her about church. She shared that she no longer does that. You do your thing and I will do mine. After digging for just a moment, I found that she had attended church when she was very young and it was all about works. I shared this: To you, who is Jesus from a historical perspective? She immediately responded, “The Messiah and Savior of the world.” I agreed. I encouraged her to place her faith in what Jesus accomplished for us on the Cross and nothing else. If our faith is properly focused on the One who paid for our sins, past, present and future, we will grow in that relationship because it is founded upon a dedicated trust in God. And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Romans 12:1

Just a few points this morning. Your life was saved by the Messiah, Jesus Christ. It was not your performance or abilities that saved you, but His blood. But I am asking you, that because of this great gift of grace, use all that you are to glorify God. If you work, do it with everything you have to be the very best because you were saved by the very best. Connect everything you do to the blessing of salvation and let this motivate you to be great for your Savior. I want you to motivate others to be great too. And when the end of each day comes, let them say that our work glorified Him. Love you all, the crossmaker

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12

Before coming to Christ, I honored the Bible as God’s Holy Word, but I did not understand it. I never realized that it would change my life completely, once I trusted the Living Word, Jesus Christ. When the author of Hebrews shares that word of God is alive and powerful, I can affirm this truth. I am not the same person who came to Jesus with nothing and after so many years, being blessed repeatedly with His love and favor. It is a love story worthy of our praise and worship. It’s no wonder that it remains as the best-selling book of all time. He is Lord! Be blessed, the crossmaker

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22

A person that listens to God’s word but doesn’t put it into action is a fool. This type of person would be like someone that is religious but has no relationship with Jesus Christ. If you are in Christ, you will be active in your faith and talk with others concerning Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior. Religiousness is based on your own efforts and ways. Christianity is about having a relationship with the person of Jesus Christ and treasuring the fact that He gave up the glories of heaven to save you and me. This calls for our response to be praise and worship, not just Sunday mornings, but a daily walk with Him. He knocked upon the door of my heart and I received Him. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26

There is nothing more valuable than your soul and I desire that you are covered by the grace of God in Christ Jesus. The Bible makes it clear that the wages of sin is death. The other problem is we don’t have the cure for our sin problem. But God made a way for Him to pay for sin and pardon you from death. The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus died upon the Cross for our sins but three days later He arose, defeating death and for all who make Him Lord of their life, He will surely save them. Exercise faith in Him and eternal life in heaven will be the reward. Ponder these things in your heart and make certain you are secure through Him and Him alone. When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! Matthew 8:10

If you follow along in all the Gospels, you will see acts of healing from the Savior. The healing, however, was not unique just to Israel. When asked by a Roman centurion asked for healing for his servant, he informed Jesus that he was not worthy for Him to come under his roof. But if Jesus would speak a word, the servant would be healed. Faith properly focused on Christ and Him alone, brings forth spiritual healing and as we see here, brought about physical healing for the servant. Jesus tells us to ask and we shall receive. Do not neglect asking your Savior for whatever you need. With God all things are possible. Sunday blessings to you, the crossmaker

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:21-23

These are some of the scariest verses in Scripture to me. They remind me that a person can have a head knowledge and even be religious, but if their faith is not in Christ, their eternal home will not be heaven. Jesus reminds us to enter through the narrow gate which is Him alone. There aren’t several ways to heaven, just through the Son of God who gave His life for ours. Whoever hears these words and does them is wise. Meditate on these things and if you are still uncertain, call on God’s mercy and grace through Jesus Christ. I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. Philippians 1:9-10

I hear people ask all the time, “What is God’s will for my life?” This right here is God’s will for you as Christians. As I shared yesterday, He desires for you to grow and develop into a mature Christian, no longer held by the chains of sin. Abundant life is found in Jesus Christ and the freedoms we have allow us to share the Gospel with confidence and boldness, another will of God item. Keep running the running race and daily, being prepared for His return, which could come at any moment. I love you all and hope you have a wonderful Friday! the crossmaker

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6

In a world that it is becoming much harder to find absolutes, we can be confident of this: Jesus keeps His children saved. Now if our salvation were based on our abilities, my confidence would fall to zero hopes. But I am not dependent upon myself, but Christ who began this good work within me. And if the Holy Word informs me that He will continue to grow and develop me until He returns, that is certainly Good News. I pray that your dependence is solely upon Him and His Finished Work of Calvary. Have a wonderful Thursday everyone, the crossmaker
