So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30

The Greek word for “It is Finished” is tetelastai. The term means a few things which all apply to the Finished Work of Jesus Christ. We have come to a completion, meaning there is no more to be accomplished. We also see this as the battle is over, meaning the war is won against sin. The penalty is paid in full and the debt is settled. We have a lot to be thankful for. We serve a risen Savior that instructs us to place our faith in Him as He has already won the battle. Have you yielded to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings and trusted Him with your life? Today is the day to exercise faith in Him and Him alone. Be blessed dear friends. In the love of Christ, have a wonderful day, the crossmaker

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” Acts 16:31

Whether you are the jailer who was watching over Paul and Silas, or just an ordinary person, the Gospel is for you. Too many times, I hear people speak of trying to get their act together before they go to church or come to Christ. That’s a plan, but a faulty one. If we could make ourselves right outside the grace of God, then Jesus would not have had to endure the cross for us. Look it up, its Galatians 2:21. What God requires is to repent or turn from your sins and believe in His One and Only Son. This is where it begins and ends. And this is what makes the news very good! I hope you know Him as Lord today. Be blessed, the crossmaker

“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. John 5:24

The climax of the Gospel is this: to receive the truth in faith and know that His work is sufficient. It took me a long time to realize the fullness of His grace and the term “tetelastai”, which means, “It is Finished!” And here is how I take this. It is completely done with nothing left to do. And since this is correct and since I have been redeemed, I am able to live life abundantly, knowing that my life is in His hands. What better place could I be than there. Have a wonderful Monday everyone, the crossmaker

For we cannot oppose the truth, but must always stand for the truth. 2 Corinthians 13:8

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that certain things must be constant. The truth is one of those constants! The Bible is very clear that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. Jesus came in the flesh, born of a virgin, lived a perfect life and gave up that life to secure ours. And if we have faith in Him and His Finished Work of Calvary, because He arose from the grave three days later, we are sealed forever. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves and embrace the truth, practice it always and be blessed, the crossmaker

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can sn**ch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can sn**ch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” John 10:27-30

A born again convert of Jesus Christ embraces this truth! This is the truth which sets us free! It is not of works or meeting a standard before we come to Him either. We don’t have to fix all the broken things before we come to Him, just come as we are. All the changes, true and lasting changes, come from repenting of your sins and trusting the Savior! Then we can know without a doubt that the Messiah has truly saved us. He is the One who gave His life freely, to take it up again and conquer death. Do not let the things of this world distract you from this great truth. Be blessed, the crossmaker

The older I get; the clearer the Bible’s teachings are for me. Our Scripture paints two ways that a person can be. Listen in as the Scripture is noticeably clear on the description. How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. Psalm 1:1-3. A question that may be applicable is this. Which patterns or behaviors should I let go and which ones should I embrace? With God’s leading, you already have your answer. Adjust and focus on the ones you should be doing. Things are not impossible when we listen to His leading and obey His desires for us. Be blessed everyone! the crossmaker

“Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father. Matthew 18:10

When asked about who the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven is, Jesus called a little child unto Him and set him there among them. And He said, “Verily I say to you, except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” The chapter is speaking of coming to Christ as a child, totally dependent upon His grace and mercy, not themselves. The focal verse reminds us that anyone who has trusted in Christ as Lord and Savior has an angel assigned to them and they report to the Heavenly Father on their behalf. As for not looking down upon these little ones, I would say that God will not put up with someone looking down or mistreating His disciples and I expect that judgment will come because of that. Make certain that we respect all persons, especially those in Christ. Be blessed, the crossmaker

As Paul spoke on and on, a young man named Eutychus, sitting on the windowsill, became very drowsy. Finally, he fell sound asleep and dropped three stories to his death below. Acts 20:9

You may be thinking, why is this verse important for you to share, Jody? All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching us. Have you ever felt yourself struggling to stay awake during preaching? I can say this is true for most of us, well maybe except for the preacher. The Word of God brings wisdom to the Christian and if we are asleep at the wheel, we fall into the danger zone. Peter said, “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Don’t worry, the young man was healed by God through Paul’s obedience. Stay alert and be blessed dear friends, the crossmaker

God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:17

As much as I love John 3:16, the 17th verse is just as important! It lets me know that anyone can come to the table of redemption and sit with the King. There is no sin that is too great or even too small that He cannot take it as far as the east is from the west. And if we have received Him by grace through faith as Paul describes then this applies: So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Brother and Sister in Christ, I pray that whatever may trouble you, that you keep your focus on Him who rescued you, knowing that He goes before us preparing the way. In Jesus name, Amen and Amen. Be blessed, the crossmaker

But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved. Hebrews 10:39

The Bible informs us that, “In just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay, and my righteous ones will live by faith.” It hurts my heart to know how many people refuse the message of Good News we share. And we don’t allow rejection to set the tone of our day, but keep preaching Christ, knowing that He is the only way to be saved. There is no other name under heaven by which people must be saved. Do not let whatever season you may be experiencing today take your eyes off the Redeemer and Friend we have in Him. Have a wonderful Monday and keep loving others, the crossmaker
