Signing Off
Approximately fifteen years ago, I started writing Pastor’s Corner, a monthly article consisting of my inspirational thoughts. It was the brainchild of Dr. Lynn Odum, a former member of Good Works Christian Ministry. I remember when she approached me with the idea of presenting my inspirational thoughts to the church. I found it a little daunting. I was a fairly new pastor and I was still trying to get my footing. The thought of not feeling qualified always raises its ugly head to prevent a good work. However, with the encouragement of my wife, I decided this would be a way to further expand my ministry in a manner that didn’t come from the traditional pulpit. I could possibly reach an audience who might never listen to a sermon, but could be inspired to seek Jesus as Lord through inspirational thoughts.
Since the inception of Pastor’s Corner, I have written approximately 180 articles. I believe all of them were inspired by The Holy Spirit. I never wrote anything based on what someone may have suggested. I relied on God to guide my writings.
I have written about places I have been, deaths, births, family, the workplace, friends, my experiences, what I have learned and observed, dreams, people, leadership, our economy, politics, The Bible, God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit and a myriad of other topics. Each time I have written anything it has been from the perspective of God’s involvement and influence because He is inextricably connected to everything we do.
I have enjoyed the time you have allowed me into your hearts and minds and I have enjoyed every article. I find it amazing that the Lord has a well that is deep and never runs dry.
From these inspired thoughts, my late wife, my daughter and her good friend came together for my 67th birthday and surprised me with my very first book, “Pastor’s Corner” A Compilation of My Inspirational Thoughts. What an amazing surprise! I was shocked, but very pleased with the product. I had no idea this was in the works until she presented it to me. I was speechless! I actually shed a few tears. It was published and distributed on Amazon. I believe there will be a Volume 2 Edition in the coming months.
After careful consideration and prayer, I have decided it is time to discontinue the monthly production of Pastor’s Corner. It is always hard to stop doing something you love, but to everything there is a season.
The plan right now is to move to a quarterly production and you might just see me in person on social media with a live version of my inspirational thoughts. So stay tuned. I will always remain true to the calling on my life to share the Good News of the Gospel.
Thank you for taking the time to read the articles and share it with others. I want to give a special thanks to Lakindra Sheffield who has done all of the editing on each article I have written. She is also responsible for scheduling them on Facebook. I used to hear my wife say “I can always depend on Lakindra”. She was absolutely right. She has never failed to meet a deadline and I have developed that same level of trust in her as my late wife.
I am looking forward to the changes God will bring in my life in 2026. I know the plans He has for me are good and not evil and lead to a hope and a future. I thank God for the wonderful things He has done and what He will do in the time to come.
I encourage you to go back and read some of the articles that are archived on the church’s website. I believe there you will find something you can relate to that will inspire you in some way.
God Bless.
