Our Refuel kickoff is next Wednesday, September 9th! We will serve a pork carnitas meal with rice, beans, and a cookie. This meal will be an opportunity to meet the Refuel team and learn more about the year. See you there!

Jeanne Kohtz died in the faith last week. We mourn but not without hope, for Christ is risen indeed! The Funeral service is Tuesday, August 25, at 10:30 am.

Mike Veit, a former member of Peace, fell asleep in Christ last month. A funeral service will be at Peace Saturday, August 8, at 10:30 am. May the Holy Spirit comfort this family with the certain hope of the resurrection. -Pastor Joel

Vacation Bible School in Norris is complete and our team is headed home. Pastor Cory's comment about the week is: "Wonderful VBS in Norris! So glad we made it happen. So tired though!" A huge thank you to Pastor Cory, Deb, Linda, and Joe for serving this week alongside our Norris friends. Please pray for safe travels as our team drives home. Also keep the Norris community in your prayers as they continue ministry throughout the year.

Today is the last day of VBS in Norris! The children will learn about Jesus' return and our eternity with Him.
Yesterday's focus was all about Jesus' death and resurrection. Look through the pictures to see the group crafts and the activity they did during closing.
The team will return home tomorrow. Please pray for their last day of VBS:
Dear Jesus, thank You for saving us! Thank You for Your sacrificial love and grace. We thank You that You will return to earth one day and create a new heaven and a new earth. Please help the children in Norris to find hope and comfort in Your return! We pray that as VBS comes to a close that You would continue to work in the Norris community. We especially thank You for the work that Jakki, Cassie, and others in Norris are doing each week to teach the children about You. Give our friends in Norris endurance throughout the year. Thank You Lord for Your faithfulness! In Your name we pray, Amen.

We begin today's proceedings of the 69th Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod with Morning Prayer. Join us in prayer and worship as the convention gathers around God's Word before the day's business. The Rev. Benjamin T. Ball will preach. VBS in Norris Day 2 focused on how God knows everything! The children got to learn about Psalm 139 and how the Lord knows each of them. Can you see the joy in these pictures?! The Lord is at work in Norris! Pastor Cory led a teens night for the teens of the community and the teens who traveled from across South Dakota to help at VBS. Please pray with us for day 3 of VBS and for Women's Night that is taking place this evening.
Our Father in Heaven, we pray today that you would continue to work through the VBS team in Norris. Thank You for providing cooler weather! As the children learn about Jesus' death and resurrection today, we ask that they would know how great Your love is for them. Help those who do not yet know You to come to faith and provide good conversations between the children and VBS team. Thank You for giving us Jesus to be the payment for our sins and for giving us new life through the resurrection. We thank You for your faithfulness to us, even when we fall short. Give each team member what they need to serve the children today. In Jesus we pray, Amen.

VBS in Norris began yesterday with a great start! Something new for this year is splitting the children up into 3 different age groups. This was a good change to help rotation from stations go smoother! A challenge from yesterday was extreme heat. The team and 46 children persevered through it and are looking forward to the break in heat today. Please pray for the team with us:
Lord, we thank You for a wonderful first day of VBS in Norris! We praise You that the team was able to teach the children about You and Your creation. Help the children to learn more each day and to bring home their knowledge to their families. Give each team member confidence in their service--knowing that the Holy Spirit is empowering them. Please be with the team as they lead teens night tonight. Help the teens who attend to grow in faith and be fed by Your Word. We pray that You would do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine through this VBS and teen's night. In the precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
