DAY 20: THE ABUNDANCE OF GOD’S BLESSINGS

“The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.” Deuteronomy 28:12 (NKJV)

This story illustrates the promise in Deuteronomy 28:12. When we trust in God's provision, He blesses us abundantly. The blessings we receive are not just for our own benefit but to uplift and support others. Samuel's faith and hard work brought blessings to his community, reminding us of the power of God's promises. Genesis 32 tells the story of Jacob and how he wrestled with God and how he persistently prayed, for weeks, until he received his blessing. He not only prayed for his blessing but for all that God could provide. Jacob asked for an abundance, more than, over and above. His fervency demonstrated his belief that God would grant it to him, and God granted to Jacob the full extent of his request.

Spend time today thanking God for abundance. Trust in God’s provision and believe that God has good things in store for you. May God increase your faith to ask boldly, like Jacob, and to persist in prayer until you see His promises fulfilled. May the blessings of God not only sustain you but also allow you to be a blessing to others. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray the Word:
Deuteronomy 28:12
Father open over my life and my family your good treasure

DAY 16: COMPASSION FOR THE LOST

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.””
Matthew 9:36-38

This passage gives us such a glimpse into the heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, into His compassionate heart for the lost. The key call of the Church of Jesus Christ is reconciling people back to God. In our communities today, we are surrounded daily by friends, neighbors, co-workers, fellow citizens and total strangers who meet this same description.

The woman standing ahead of you at the grocery store may be unsaved. If so, her life contains more grief than you can know by reason of being “harassed and helpless.” Most of this grief is hidden from your natural sight, but Christ sees it all, and His heart is moved with compassion for people like her. The neighbor who lives at the end of your block may wave cheerfully at you while you drive by as he mows his lawn. But if he is unsaved, he is “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Jesus is moved by compassion for people like him.

Pray the Word:
Matthew 9:36-38
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field

Prayer Prompts:
• Pray to trade spiritual apathy for a genuine, heavy burden for souls.

• Ask God to break your heart for what breaks His heart regarding those far from Him.

• Pray to see people not as interruptions or statistics, but as precious individuals loved by God.

• Pray for the removal of judgment, anger, or prejudice toward unbelievers, asking instead for
Christ-like grace.

• Remember your own past state of being lost to cultivate patience and mercy toward others.

DAY 15: GODLY LEADERSHIP

Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 2:1–4, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and
thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” God told the Israelites in exile to pray for Babylon: “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to whichI have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper” (Jeremiah 29:7). Romans 13:1 says, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” Paul requested prayer “for all the Lord’s people” and for himself that he would speak the gospel boldly (Ephesians 6:18–20).

Prayer for our leaders is important and dear to God, that is why the Bible makes special mention of praying for those in positions of authority. Such authorities include government officials (international, national, and local) and pastors, church elders, school boards, school principals, employers, and the like. Today, as you fast, spend time praying for our leaders and especially people God has set over America and the body of Christ.

Pray the Word:
1 Timothy 2:1–4
Spend time praying for godly leadership

Prayer Prompts:
• Ask God for leaders who will seek for divine wisdom rather than relying on human skill or
intellect.

• Pray for leaders with listening hearts: pray for the skill to listen closely to God and to the
needs of the people being led.

• Pray for God to give us leaders who walk in truth: pray that leaders act with godly pure
motives, avoiding selfish ambition or pride.

• Pray for humility in leadership. Ask God to help people in leadership see leadership as a trust
from God rather than a title or position.

• Pray for protection from temptation, dishonesty, and spiritual discouragement. Scripture: Jeremiah 29:7, Romans 13:1, Ephesians 6:18–20
