As we celebrate Memorial Day today, I want to encourage us to pause and reflect with gratitude. 🙏 🇺🇸
This weekend is more than the unofficial beginning of summer, family gatherings, or a day off work. Memorial Day is an opportunity to remember the men and women who willingly laid down their lives in service to our country so that others might live in freedom and peace. 🎖️
Jesus said in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” ❤️
While no human sacrifice compares to the saving work of Christ, Memorial Day reminds us that sacrificial love is deeply meaningful and worthy of honor. We give thanks for those who courageously served, for the families who carry loss, and for the freedoms we often take for granted. Even in the midst of what feels like a lot of chaos in the world and our own country today, we are blessed beyond measure, in part to the sacrifice of these men and women and their families. 🪖
As believers, Memorial Day also gives us an opportunity to remember a deeper truth: history is not random, and God remains on the throne even in a world marked by conflict and loss. In moments of reflection, we are reminded both of the cost of freedom and of our ultimate hope in Christ, the One who conquered sin and death and promises a coming Kingdom of true peace! ❤️
I encourage you today to:
- Pray for military families and those grieving loss
- Thank a veteran or active service member
- Spend time reflecting on God’s faithfulness
- Gather with gratitude, humility, and hope
We look forward to worshiping together soon as we remember God’s goodness and place our trust in Him.
In Christ,
