Beauty has a way of bringing out the best in us.
So does mercy.

This Sunday we'll explore one of Jesus' most intriguing statements: "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."

What did Jesus mean by that? Is mercy weakness? Is it forgiveness? And why does Jesus seem to think mercy has the power to transform both the giver and the receiver?

Join us this Sunday as we continue our series, A Beautiful Life.
1030AM only.

Summer Serve is coming to Emmaus this summer and honestly…your kids are going to do more than just come home covered in sunscreen and snack crumbs. (Although probably that too.)

For three mornings, our rising 1st–6th graders will learn what it looks like to love their neighbors, care for creation, and serve their community in real, practical ways through Bible stories, hands-on projects, games, and time with some incredible local organizations.

And to kick things off, we’re starting with a little summer cleaning project: Before Summer Serve begins, have your kids dig through their rooms for gently used stuffed animals, books, and clothes. We’ll be collecting donations for Midlands Orphan Relief on the very first day.

The details:
Emmaus Church
June 23rd–25th
9am–12pm each day
Snacks provided

This is designed to be fun, meaningful, active, and engaging. We’ll spend time listening, learning, serving, and playing together each day.

If you have questions about whether Summer Serve is a good fit for your child, feel free to reach out to Kara at mailto:[email protected]

Memorial Day Weekend is a lot of things to a lot of people.

For many of us, it marks the beginning of summer. The pools open. The grills get going. Families gather. Much fun is had.

But for many others, this weekend carries a different kind of weight. It is a time of remembrance. A time of grief. A time to honor loved ones who are no longer here.

Here is a borrowed prayer you can use when you have a few moments to yourself…
-
Creator God, we lift up all who serve in the armed forces. We pray for their safekeeping. We lift up those stationed overseas. We pray they will be reunited with their loved ones soon.

We lift up those who have experienced combat. We ask you to restore peace to their souls and wholeness to their bodies.

We remember those who have died in combat. We entrust them to Your care and we pray for the comfort of their families. We remember the innocent victims of war and we give thanks for the cross, God’s answer to a world addicted to violence.

We mourn all whose lives have been sacrificed on the altar of war. We pray for the resolve to pursue another way, to let go of the sword and take the hand of the Crucified One. On this and every Memorial Day, we ask that we might prove ourselves worthy subjects of the Prince of Peace.

Amen.
