This week we look at John 11:1-27. Jesus delayed coming to the aid of his dying friend Lazarus. This confused and likely bewildered some of his other friends and companions. “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died,” said Martha. How do you explain his behavior? Praise God we don’t have to. Jesus explained that Lazarus’ predicament would ultimately demonstrate his own glory and help everyone involved to believe. In the mean time, Jesus asked them to trust him. God does that with us too. Often our trials are God’s way of teaching us patience and to trust his plan.

Our monthly Fellowship Meal will be held immediately after service.

This week we look at John 10:22-42. Jesus declared that he and the Father are one. Again, this enraged his opponents. They charged him with blasphemy and tried to trap him in his words in order to have him killed. In the exchange, Jesus rebuked them for their unbelief and gave us some of the most encouraging words a lowly sheep can hear: “no one will sn**ch them out of my hand.” As sheep, our lives are full of doubt. That is to be expected from our imperfect hearts, but there is one thing we should never doubt… the security we have in Christ’s perfect hands.

This week we look at John 8:48-59. The Jews challenged Jesus about his true identity. Jesus explained who he was and where he came from, but the words were too hard for them to take. They accused him of having a demon and being a liar. The crescendo came when the Jews declared that for his words to be true, he would have to be older than Abraham. His response was, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Jesus explained they were right. He was older than Abraham because he is eternal God.

This week we look at John 8:31-47. Jesus famously said, “the truth will set you free.” He was talking about sin. He also conditioned this freedom on abiding in his words — “If you abide in my word… you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We know he was talking about sin because in v34 he remarked that those who practice sin are slaves to sin. While this verse has been co-opted to mean freedom from all sorts of things, we need to remember that our sin is our biggest problem. Being freed from all sorts of bo***ge, but remaining in sin, is no better off in the end. While we are to seek all sorts of deliverance, let us never leave a man enslaved in his sin!

This week we look at John 8:12-30. Jesus described himself as the “Light of the World” who offers “Light of Life” to all who believe. The Pharisees, however, did not. They were walking in darkness. Because of sin, that is the default state of all mankind, but Jesus shines into the darkness and delivers us from it. For those who have seen the light and believed — who have seen the light and love the light — Christ calls us to walk in it. We are to live our lives as those who have been delivered from death and darkness, and share that light with others!

This week we look at John 7:53-8:11. This is the “Woman caught in adultery” passage. It is very well known. What isn’t well known is that it probably was not in John’s original gospel. Is that a problem? We will talk about that, but also examine if it teaches something new that can’t be found elsewhere in Scripture (it doesn’t). While it’s inclusion raises questions about how the Bible we have today came to be, the fact that we know what is original and what is not actually gives more confidence in the words we call the Scripture.

Good morning!

Today we are looking at John 6:1-30. Jesus performed 2 miracles: he fed 5,000 men with a few loaves and fish, then walked on water to top it off. John tells us Jesus did the first (in part) to test the disciples and the second to catch up to them. Chapter 6 is really one unit that needs to be taken as a whole. Jesus used the context of hungry but shallow followers, excited by his many signs to explain to what they really needed… the bread of life he provides. Join us this morning as we set the stage and ask the question Jesus effectively posed to all who witnessed his miracles — “Who do you say I am?”

We will be having our Fellowship Meal immediately after service. We would love to fellowship with you!

We had a blast partnering with Life Network for this year’s Walk for Life! 💙👟

Through the generosity of our donors, we were able to raise almost $1,000 to support the life-changing work Life Network is doing right here in our community.

These funds help provide services like pregnancy support, ultrasounds, parenting resources, men’s services, and ongoing care for women, men, and families facing unexpected pregnancies.

Of the amount raised, $800 alone can help approximately 16 families, as every $150 raised provides life-changing services to three women facing unplanned pregnancies. Thank you to everyone who donated, prayed, walked, and encouraged us along the way. Your support is making a real difference in the lives of local families.

Good morning!

Come join us this week as we look at John 5:30-47. Jesus continued his rebuke of those who accused him of sin for healing on the Sabbath. He returned their accusations with one of his own - that they have refused the Messiah despite all the witnesses that testified to him. Jesus did not come on the scene unannounced. Between John the Baptist’s testimony, his own miracles, and the Scriptures, the Jews had no excuse, but they still refused Christ. Refusing the Son means to refuse the Father and face the judge. Ironically, the same law they accused Jesus of breaking would accuse them in return. But there is hope! To all who see and hear and come to Christ, there is no judgement, only life!
